-well, first of all 15 months, ****ing wow.
-after 15 months, who knows what poker will look like
-ps and ftp might have to wait an additional 2 yrs
-will harrahs online or w/e even have hu tables? who knows?
-the govt literally ****s everything up. everything. so 15mo later everythings going to be up and running without a hitch?
-state can opt out
-DOJ going to make it a monster pain in the ass for sites that continue to offer games after bill goes thru. huge fines, etc.
-how long until fish realize they can play poker again, after the 15mo is over?
-youre absolutely FUCCCCKKKED for 15mo AT LEAST, unless u move imo, from what ive read.
its just not going to be a wonder land after 15mo imo. not even close. theres so many uncertainties with this bill. i just dont get it.
- Yes, the 15 month blackout will suck. Still, it might be possible to play on sites that opt to stay in the U.S. market like Bodog, Cake, etc. It won't be illegal for the players, only for the sites to offer poker to U.S. residents.
- Why do you say we won't know what poker will look like? It will look pretty awesome imo. Joe Sixpack can swipe his debit card and play on FTP or Stars in 15 months. Media networks will be more accepting of poker advertising if it is 100% legal. It may not be the Moneymaker effect, but it will most certainly be a better situation with more fish than there are now.
- States opting out will happen under ANY legalization of online poker. If you think the federal government will ever mandate states to opt in, you're delusional. Just look at state lotteries and other forms of gambling for proof. If you live in the middle of Kentucky, that's your loss.
- You're seriously worried if Harrah's will have HU tables? There will be plenty of competition with legalization and licensing, I think it's reasonable to assume most places will offer HU. If there were 2-3 fish per 6-max table instead of 1 or none, would it really matter that much anyways?
- It's not like fish actively monitor the legal ramifications surrounding poker now. Those that play will continue to try to. New fish will see an ad on ESPN, create an account, swipe their debit card or PayPal and start playing. That can't happen right now.
I really hope this passes.
If you think there are uncertainties with this bill, think about the uncertainties of the status quo. More payment processor seizures or possible indictments of major sites like Stars & FTP? Or with a Republican controlled congress, maybe they'll sneak in more UIGEA-like bills to make even harder to play online poker in the U.S., if not entirely illegal for players instead of sites.
