I have no history with villain. Should we be folding this to villains strong line, especially since he is an unknown?

if the villain was full stacked and had tag stats, i would consider folding this. however, i am not sure if i can fold to someone who is most likely a fish and will be overvaluing 77 - 99.

But can we profitably call these healthy bets when the only portion of his value range that we are beating is 77-99? And, what do we do on the river?

it's really player dependent. i guess against most unknowns, you can probably safely fold here on the turn. i would look for full stacked opponents, timing tells, bet sizing, etc.

against fish at these stakes, i am more inclined to call them down on the turn and the river. this player has a short stack so i assume villain is more fishy than not. i can't blame you for folding here and finding out more about the opponent before making the decision to call turn and river.

I like your fold. If villain is doing this with all his overpairs you ate in bad shape: you beat 3 and are beaten by 4. Even if villain is bluffing, there will be a ton of river cards that either improve him (he has ~12% equity with two overs) or allow him to bluff you of the best hand (say villain bets AQ on a K river).

Also, you can't really expect villain to play his low overpairs just as his high ones (i.e. he may check back the river with the hands that you beat, but he will always be betting JJ+ putting you in another tough spot).
