Flop check-raise or float? Flop check-raise or float?

Its pretty well documented that a lot of players on uNL c-bet way too much, so I thought a good way to exploit this would be to either check-raise their c-bet/raise their c-bet IP/float the flop. As a lot of players are quite passive as well, and will usually check the turn after a float OOP, any bet by Hero will be able to take it down.

My question is - would it be more profitable floating or check-raising/raising? Why would you choose one over the other? What are the factors that I should consider? Of course I get that this is very player and board dependant...but what board/player are we looking for for each option?

I've been trying to incorporate this into my game, but one thing I don't understand is what stops you from doing this with ATC? You don't necessarily have to have any hand if you are trying to pick off his c-bet. The two cards you hold in your hand becomes irrelevant as you're essentially pulling off a stone cold bluff.

However, I think this might be a leak in my game. When I try the check-raise on say a dry A high board rainbow, thinking 'if he doesn't have the ace, he can't call' or a low flop where he doesn't seem to have hit, what is my move if he does call? Do I just shut down on the turn? But if I do shutdown on the turn, wouldn't that become too exploitable/transparent?

Or should I give this up altogether as the times when they call my raise/double barrel and I have to shut down far outweighs the times when I manage to take down the pot on the flop or turn?

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit long winded...super grateful for any help!

It is very hard to tell which situations each of the action works best, but the factors when deciding which action is best are: 1. player type 2. board texture 3. your hand value on flop and future streets 4. reads. You have to know how people play somewhat before you can do creative stuff.

So how much value an I losing if I just delete this part of my game for now? Especially at these low stakes where being creative isn't too important...

Say I check raise flop but get called, and shut down on turn, is this spewy?

No need to worry about this stuff at the micros IMO, just focus on getting sick at valuebetting.

Value betting fish IP does not require "best hands". If fish calls with 2nd pairs/draws - iso/raise pf and value bet top pair with rag kicker or a hand that can beat 2nd/3rd pairs/draws but is a better 2nd pair ex. 99 on A76. Focus on fish and their "tendencies", leave the reg wars for later
