I have been reading 2+2 threads for a while now and finally decided to register and ask a question myself. If there is anything wrong with my representation of the situation, please feel free to correct me so that I do not repeat the same mistakes in the future. So here it goes:
$0.10/$0.25 Rush & Cash on GG. Hero with 55BB on BB, Villain covers on MP. Preflop: Villain raises 2.52BB, everyone else folds and Hero calls with 9 6. Pot = 5.44BB Flop: 8 10 10. Hero checks. Villain bets 1.80BB. Hero raises 5.48BB. Villain calls. Pot = 16.40BB Turn: 8 10 10 (J). Hero bets 10BB. Villain calls. Pot = 36.40BB River: 8 10 10 (J) (A). Hero goes all in with 37.92BB. Villain calls and shows J J.
I would like to know if I could have played differently in any of the streets.
Welcome to the forums. Normally when people post GG hands they will post a screenshot of the hand history from the site. I've never played on there but it is probably an option in the replayer or something. You might get better feedback if you post hands in that way.
Not too sure about shorter stack strategy. Nearly all players that play 6 max fast fold games study how to play with 100bbs and will never let their stack go below 100bb by using the auto top up feature.
Defending preflop is probably fine but we should probably be more cautious raising certain paired board textures vs tighter positions because a lot of their opens are going to contain cards concentrated in the A-T region so we should be more selective when bluffing on TTx+ boards.
With that said flop and turn is probably ok but I would give up on this river and only shove with value.
Yes, the idea behind play 100bb is to give yourself the opportunity to take the maximum from players you have an edge against. And you should have an edge on your table, with table selection.
Flop, I think you can x/r bigger. Altough the flop is paired, there is a lot of draws you want to charge.
About your hand selection, if you x/r any 9x with backdoor FD you will x/r way to often.
I think you can x/c here with your gutshot.
I prefer choose 9x with better blockers to a T. Like, J9, Q9, and even K9 sometimes.
Turn, seems ok.
The J is not a bad card for our hand. But I struggle to appreciate the impact on our range.
Your size seems standard, but I'm really not sure if it's sharped, maybe a lower size is better.
It's also possible that a check could be good.
River. You have no SDV, you can bluff...
But give up seems way better to me :
1.you don't have any range advantage. Vilain's have all JT/AT, and KQ ; and JJ, AA. So, imo, you absolutely, have to give up some bluffs.
2. You don't have any blockers against good hands (a Q or a K)
3. You have a backdoor FD, that's reduce the number of missed draws that vilain can fold river.
