If you 3bet to 30, you go through the math and explain you must call 70 to win 130, which is a fold given your equity. However, if you 3bet to 39, you risk 61 to win 139 which makes the call profitable.
I know that in terms of equity, for poker you can forget how you got to your present situation and simply evaluate the one at hand. But if you foresee his 4bet AI coming, isn't it correct to fold before your own 3bet, because overall this entire play as a whole is -ev? Aren't you also getting into a situation where you are betting bigger with your worse hands (by adjusting to 39 from 30), and smaller with better?
Split I've read a lot of your posts now and just want to say thanks for them all... they collectively have some of the best info i've read about the game.
I really only showed that hand to show the example for which hands had the best equity in the event you are getting 3:1+ outright in a situation. 4-betting to about 1/4 stack, or 25bb, is generally the best sizing in general...so that example in the video was just a "hey, look at this stuff and see how you can respond from a STRICTLY mathematical POV"
and in regards to the bolded part...thank you very much. i take compliments like that to heart =)
