Balancing a "Cbet flop - check turn" range.

In general, what types of hands would you bet the flop with - and then check turn with, and be able to call a bet from our opponent (float bet or river probe).
To protect the range that bets the flop and gives up the turn, like backdoor draws that don't turn any equity.
Example:
BTN vs BB SRP
Flop T45r
BTN might choose to cbet a hand like QJ, or 89 BDFD.
But then turn comes an offsuit 2, and now hero might choose to check back those QJ and 89 since they didnt improve.
How does hero balance this bet "flop - check turn" range - to prevent BB from just bluffing river with all his unpaired hands - and us folding everything?
I think this would be more important OOP - where V can just float the flop a lot and stab the turn - if you bet the flop with your bluffs and usually have nothing if you check the turn after betting the flop.
Very general question of course - but any thoughts are appreciated.

Weak TP, MP, draws (non-nut FD, OESD, GS) that bet the flop and check the turn. This is usually enough to protect our range.
In your example it could be top pair Tx with a low kicker, MP - A5-J5, 50% OESD 67s, GS 86s.
If you have aggressive opponents in your pool who like to float and use overbets, then add even more strong hands to your checking range.
