If anybody is still unclear of the statistics involved, let me know.

I work at a college as a janitor even though I feel like I'm smarter than most of the people that go there. Sometimes I see an equation written on a blackboard, like, half an equation and I'll just figure it out.

Has anyone heard from 888 about the refund money they nabbed? Any distributed? Anybody who was affected contacted them yet?

I am talking to the Gambling Commission on some stuff and want to chase player refunds from this so any update would help.

That's what I told the UKGC when I met them.

I asked them to check with 888 how they could specify a precise amount needed for player refunds but weeks later not have made any progress in refunding players.

I pointed out that Woods got time off his sentence in mitigation as his lawyer claimed every player would be fully refunded...but none has been. I asked them to chase 888 about it. Fortunately they are on record saying:

Have you chased 888? I tried but have not had a reply.

This is what 888 had to say:

Quote:
We have received your e-mail regarding the player Dooshcom, and your request for information.

We can advise you that when it comes to the repatriation of funds connected to this case, and specifically with regards to any possible refund owed to your account, we are currently unable to comment on this. The repatriation of funds is an on going process, in which we are acting in accordance with the Humberside Police, and the UK court system, as we have throughout this investigation, and as we will continue to do so with their requirements concerning compensation.

If your account was one of the accounts affected by this case, you will be notified accordingly once this process is closed, and with the relevant details of any payments made. I would emphasise that we can only contact you with these details once the repatriation process is closed, and only if your account was found to be affected during the process of this investigation.
I would appreciate it if people would shout if and when they get a refund so I can stop chasing the regulator on this then.

I remain puzzled that 888 could request Ł283,673 to compensate players, a pretty precise sum, but over a month later not have contacted any players to pay them.

"An online poker player found guilty of fraud has been jailed and ordered to pay back Ł1m."

It doesn't say where the 1m is to be paid specifically

As a returning player and one who is worried about internet security, I have spent 2 evenings studying these posts.

I have so much more faith in the system than I had a week ago.

It reads like a battle to prove your suspicions. Well done to all involved for all the time, character assassinations and sticking with it, when most would lose hope over time and have doubts.

I hope those involved get their money returned, and the whole online poker world owe you thanks and lets all hope this is the start of big strides towards online scammers and filthy cheats.

I have to admit I didn't expect that.

Got 120k on my account today.

I know its not going to be fair to everyone. I probably got the biggest refund too.

Hope you guys get something. I was not in any contact with 888 and it was a complete surprise.

I lost around 400k in August of 2011 in these games if I remember correctly. It was almost 4 years ago.

Was contacted by many people in skype.

Some affected players got refunds ranging from 5 to 50k.

Some unfortunately got nothing.

* I want them to publish a lessons learned report detailing lessons for the industry as they typically do for Money Laundering or software failures that disadvantage players in other UK regulated sectors.

Yes it was ipoker. My estimate would be 90% of play was on 888 and 10% on ipoker

It's good that you got 120, but I'd still be saying I lost 400, where is the rest please?

If they confiscated DW's funds then surely your entitled to a calculation of what was left in his account. I would have expected this to be much higher than 30%

The Ł1m was not the balances in his accounts. The Ł1m was basically all the assets the court could identify that he had. The suspicion is that Skrill and the sites got first dibs for the frauds against them and then there was the leftovers for some players.

The prosecutor's belief was that the total defrauded was well above the Ł1m but in practical terms the court could not get more.

How the money was split is very relevant, we might hope for 100% compensation but in reality that is asking a bit much. Without clarity it seems that Skrill and the sites got their money first, that their effective rake and profits on money transfers was HIGHER than if the play was 100% legitimate.

There has been no analysis that required the sites to forgo their rake generated in the dishonest games to compensate players - PS remember at the time he was a sponsored 888 pro cheating on their site!

I have asked the UKGC for clarity on this and guidance fo future compensation, they are a bit hamstrung that the events happened before i-poker and 888 were UK licenced so their powers to order more are pretty non existent, all we can hope for is guidance on how to do future compensation to players.

I have no commitment to disclose and make recomendations from the UKGC but I will persist.

If anyone else wants to contact the UKGC info@gamblingcommission.gov.uk and ask for clarity on the compensation issue then feel free. You may want to ask that a similar report to this one on a bit of Money Laundering at Coral be produced for the Woods case

http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk...%20Limited.pdf

in that case Coral had to pay UKGC costs and make donations to gambling treatment and research charities as a result of their failings.

I'm chasing the UKGC on this again.

Have there been any developments? Have i-poker still failed to compensate anyone?
