BTN: $4.85 (48.5 bb)
SB: $2.84 (28.4 bb)
BB: $6.18 (61.8 bb)
UTG: $6.55 (65.5 bb)
Hero (MP): $11.07 (110.7 bb)
CO: $10 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K A
UTG raises to $0.40, Hero raises to $1.20, 4 folds, UTG calls $0.80

Flop: ($2.55) Q 3 6 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $1.60, UTG calls $1.60

Turn: ($5.75) 9 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

River: ($5.75) 5 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

It was v. unknown on speed tables. Should turn or river here? A lot of times people c/c flop with small pairs and play flop and turn passively so was wondering if it's worth betting here.

Thank you.

i like to barrel a lot, but this board is super dry and turn and river are basically bricks, so i don't think this is a good spot to barrel at all. they will look you up with JJ, TT type hands a lot with only one overcard on the board.

also once you check the turn you should never bet this river. no pair will fold.

I just try to check in down otf in this spot vs. this villain. He has like a 1/2 PSB left now, as played, so he's not folding anything ott or otr.

Really interesting you guys suggest flatting here.

OOI, what about this preflop spot with AKs?

Flat again unless CO or UTG is bad.

UTG has a narrow range with 4x UTG and you don't want to narrow that range even more with AKs, I'm guessing that's why everyone is saying flat pre?

AK Pre: In general 3bet/5bet if you know it's profitable. If it's not, flat is usually better then 3bet/fold unless you know villain calls 3bets too much and has a low 4bet%.

This is because 3bet/fold is essentially turning your hand into a bluff and you may as well bluff with some other combo and make the profitable flat with AK

First hand the guy has 65.5bb so is probably bad, or a shortstacker that will gii wider than most. I think trying to get it in pre is the best option there for sure. I would probably check flop too for the same reasons.

Second hand with these stacks we obviously aren't that comfortable getting it in pre but I think it can be a good spot to 3bet still with AKs. People should call us wider (if they don't then that is fine) and be less inclined to 4bet. We can still call a reasonable sized 4bet also if it comes to that. We also have position.

Having said that flatting is obviously a lower variance play and at these stakes I think it is probably better, especially if villains are unknown. We also are fine with getting squeezed by one of the blinds.
