Poker Stars $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BB: $53.60
UTG: $69.10
Hero (MP): $53.95
CO: $52.25
BTN: $50.00
SB: $67.05

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is MP with 7 7
UTG raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1.50, 3 folds, BB raises to $6.60, 1 fold, Hero calls $5.10

Flop: ($14.95) A 8 9 (2 players)
BB bets $8.50, Hero raises to $17

I may get flamed for doing this, but whatever, i'm learning.

villain is a 15/11 nitty reg across 100 hands

is this spewey? or possibly a profitable play

edit- 3bet is 2.5%
My thinking is a nit will fold out his big pairs

pre flop call is too loose. if villain is nitty he's not 3 betting air here.
i like that you posted this hand because you're right, this is how you learn. i've done a whole bunch of bad bluffs (and posted them) in the past and am a better player for it.
as played if you are going to bluff there is no need to raise more than this so your raise size is good. since he is nitty he's not going to bluff 3 bet like ever so you fold out all pps.

15/11 nitty and you turn your 77 into a bluff on a drawheavy A high flop. I dont like it at all. I cant see profit here.

well pre you dont have the odds to setmine, turning your hand into a bluff post flop might be the only way to show a profit.

i am not a big fan of it though.

but you are a brave dude for posting it, no doubt:-)

It's only good if he folds AQ. Even if he only calls with an A or set of aces, I think is a bad bluff if the guy is really nitty. I think a big nit's preflop reraising range is AK, AQ, JJ+. So I think he is generally only calling with AK, AQ, AA, and is folding other big pairs that beat you. But the problem is, assuming he is 3-betting preflop with AK, AQ, AA, KK, QQ and JJ, there are 32 combos of AK and AQ, 6 combos of AA, and only 18 combos of KK-JJ. I guess that, given the flop, there are only 27 combos of AK/AQ, but that's still more than KK-JJ. If this was a K high flop, or the guy wasn't a big nit, or you thought he'd fold even a hand as strong as AQ, then it's a better move, but given reads I think it's a little spewy.

First call pre is good, 2nd is bad. BB squoze you and an UTG opener, this shows a lot of strength. You will be well behind his range and have nowhere near the odds to continue. As for the flop itself, most nits won't even be cbetting JJ, QQ, or KK here, so there isn't much that will actually fold to a raise, so i'd just give up here too.
