Vilain was something around the lines of 28/23. Wasn't too sure if he was a good lag or a bad lag yet.. Hows the line? if he bets the river, I need to fold right?

Why no follow up bet on the flop?

I would c-bet the flop unless you had some specific read that made you think c/c flop would be better. As played, definitely c/f river.

I want a cheap showdown and it's the best way to keep the lower cards in.

I could be way off here, but I'm not sure you can afford this luxury playing a 3bet pot OOP w/a marginal hand.

I can only get better by getting into hard situations And 3bet Q9s from the blinds against someone with 45 ATS is definitely a good way to gain experience.

I'd fire 7 on flop, potcontrolling OOP in 3-bet pots sucks against LAGs. I'd get it in over a raise.

As played, c/f.

Might be more accurate to say "by wisely choosing hard situations". Don't mean that to sound snotty btw.

If your read is true then IMO you're playing into a lag's strength by trying to take charge oop w/a fairly worthless hand; you should instead manipulate him onto your turf which is isolating him when playing solid hands in position or when oop let him do the driving.

Either of those two are the hard situations you want to try out, not this third one you picked here.

My read was that I'm not sure if he's good or bad yet.. This is nl50 so he's bad 95% of the time.

If you think he's probably bad, pf is bad too unless you have a read that he's among the top percentile of 3bet pot spewtards.
