The rest of the table was pretty passive besides me and this player, he was 3 and 4-betting me frequently so I was trying to play back at him a bit. River is probably spew lol giving villain better than 3:1 on a call right? would you say I could be over-playing a Q this way much of the time to make the river shove an easy call for villain? he has to put in 1.44 to win 4.49 so he's getting better than 3:1, easy call for him I guess? which makes the shove pretty bad with no fold equity? when he shows up with his hand I am very suprised he donks turn on a Q, in theory should he have a donking range on the turn and what would it be? I thought the Q should be much better for me. any thoughts appreciated.

i can't tell from your op if you think vilain should fold his hand lol. pre is 0 frequency at equilibrium let alone vs a guy playing back at you with 3 and 4bing. if people are playing badly pre you will make money if you play well, you dont need to try to also play badly pre to outdo them. as for the hand you usually dont want to bluff with missed draws bc you block a good amount of the combos he could actually be bluffing with (reducing his b/fs and increasing the proportion of his b/cs). tbh it looks like u just got frustrated and blew up in the hand.

The hand doesn’t need to be right off a gto chart to be playable, its a polarizing range , K4s has blocker potential and is suited, not saying its really necessary for me to play here but it can be part of a polarizing range.

My thoughts were if I 3-bet him with like 70% good hands and 30% bluffs or something like that he won’t just have an easy fold versus if I just raised him with a strong range. He was playing back a bit but he was picking and choosing his spots. Pretty difficult to play against. I could tighten up but then he can easily get out of the way when I raise.

Also I didn’t know he called 3-bets this wide until he shows 97s

Another thread where the OP spews preflop and then complains when people tell him.

I think submersive gave good feedback and I will keep that in mind. I am still unsure though how to play against these players, if we just play only value can’t they just get out of the way? Can anyone touch on how to exploit these players a bit more? And what would villains donking range be on this turn card? The Q is better for our range.

I’d think if he was playing back at you aggressively PF you’d just wait and play solid hand values against him.

This is just wrong, even if you did have a polarized range (that is, you have a calling range, which you shouldn't anyway with these positions), K4s would come nowhere close to making the cut, even against an aggressive villain. Unless you know for a fact MP has a high fold to 3bet, it's just spew. It's especially spew considering this is 2nl, I mean just look at the hand MP called the 3bet with

Flop and turn are fine but river is pretty spewy. Bluffing with hearts is not good, you want villain to have hearts and you block that

fair enough, thanks guys. I'll try to follow this advice, your right about the polarized range thing. I forgot when we have no calling range we can't be polarized. and the bluffing with hearts point is a good point. I'll tighten up to these guys in the future. I must confess submersible nailed it, I jammed out of frustration lmao, gotta keep the emotions out of the game.

What is villain's donking range here on the turn though? that was a very confusing moment.

Quite playing polarizing strategies (I posted about this before) below 100nl. This stake is the worst. You definitely should be linear. Save the fancy **** for when you have grown out of 2nl.

Not going to reiterate preflop, but why are we bluff shoving river with hearts? Looks like a complete torch.

For your river shove, you are representing AQ+, QQ, QTs or Ts. Not sure if you would 3bet with 8s here.

In the turn, the board has 2 x FDs. Not make much sense that you have AQ or QT, as these hands would raise the turn especially on this wet board. The story you are telling is that you have pocket pairs. The remaining value hands you shove river are only QQ (1 combo) Ts (3 combo). Villain would call your bet even with a Q here since there is many obvious missed draw here. Just fold it and give up river.
