This a common spot where I donīt know which line to take.
I used AK as an example, but the same goes with any ace that misses on the flop or any really weak pair (on this board 55-88, A4s, 54s).
Villain plays 86/2/1,0. Agg% 23. Folds to flop c-bet very rarely.
Problem is, I probably have the best hand.
But he will call my c-bet, and then I will be OOP on turn.
On the turn I probably still have the best hand, but now the pot is bigger and I need to make a bigger bet. With Ace high. OOP.
I feel like the worst line to take is to bet flop and not bet turn. Then the flop bet is just wasted.
So whatīs best?
Try to check down and fold to any bet? I will get bluffed a fair amount of the time, even by a passive opponent. Or he has A4, 54 or 33 and I could have pushed him of the hand (maybe). Or he is unpaired on flop and hits on turn or river.
Or do I bet flop + bet turn? But then I wanna kill myself if he calls turn.
I donīt feel that a checkcalling line is good against a passive opponent.
Letīs say he instead plays 38/25/4: Does the best line change? Do I go into check calling mode?
My plan is to usually give these pots up early. OOP + weak hand = bad.
Is this to weak?
(If villain has a fold button I of course c-bet, this is mainly an issue against stations, maniacs or really (= prolly not playing 25NL) good players.)
86% he has almost everything in his range,he can easlly have a draw there or a pair, and he won't give up so easy, maybe 3 barells are the right choice here,of course if the board help u and turn, river are blank...You also have great value against this guy with your AK,but if he is passive you can go to showdown without betting and still have value
My advice(if u choose this line) 1 barell or 3 barell's .....in this spot continuation on turn without Continuation on the river, can make u lose some bucks...and villain can check behind u and show J3 heartsI choose to c/c(is good for balancing your range) the flop and c/f to continuation,if my hand didn't improved!!!good luck!!!
BTW...also he can show AA,KK.QQ, but let's not put every whale on Premium Hands...every timeand in this case I'm pretty sure this guy will over bet , turn!!!
I don't think you can go wrong taking this line, like you said it's going to be very hard to get to showdown with the best hand.
You can exploit his habit of never folding by opening solid hands that makes good top pairs and just value town him.
Thankīs. Thatīs what Iīve been thinking. Give up the pots where I miss, then take the stations to valuetown and let the maniacs commit suicide once I hit.
It just feels so bad to go "I prolly have the best hand, but Iīm gonna checkfold like a little girl (Anette15 excluded)" .
