Hey, first post and probably many more to come. Currently learning the game and with more experience hopefully make some money out of it

Villain = unknown

Full Tilt, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

BB: $10.15 (101.5 bb)
MP: $10 (100 bb)
CO: $9.96 (99.6 bb)
Hero (BTN): $9.45 (94.5 bb)
SB: $10.73 (107.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 6 6
MP calls $0.10, CO folds, Hero raises to $0.40, 2 folds, MP raises to $0.70, Hero calls $0.30

Thought this was pretty standard play.

Flop: ($1.55) Q 4 J (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $1, MP raises to $2, Hero folds

Was CBetting the flop with two overs on the board the best decision when an unknown 3B preflop?
Also when they check/min-raised(?) I believed I was beat and gave up the hand.

1. Buy in full
2. Take free card to try and hit your set

This line he took is indicative of a fish that has a big hand. If you hit your set on the turn then if he bets you raise if he checks you overbet the pot... imo of course

Nah you're gonna take down dead money more than you're gonna hit a 2 outter.

There´s absolutelly no problem with that with this type of hand, if there´s no aggressive players left to play (which will be not that uncommon at 10NL).

I just don't like it because then your only playing your hand for set value when if you iso raised him pre you can cbet and rep that the Q hit you on the flop.

im actually fine with either play pf (given those conditions) but i stand by checking behind on the flop given the pf action. i just think you have ~0 fold equity and betting this flop given the action accomplishes nothing. hes not folding and i really really really doubt youre getting any value so a bet does nothing for you OP

2nd. If he opened utg and you flatted and he checked to you, i would like the bet a lot more.
