ok, so here's my story:

I started playing poker about a year and a half ago. At first it was just a hobby, well, not even a hobby, kind of thing that i would do when only my friends were around. Long story short, after a while I got into online poker after watching youtube stream highlight videos and was surprised how hard and complexed the game was. I started playing freerolls on ps and more i played, more i fell in love with the game. It didn't matter that i wasn't winning a lot from 10$ freerolls (duh) but i just loved the experience. So with the money i won from playing freerolls, i fired up some actual micro stakes tournaments and won 25$.
After that, i seriously started thinking about building an actual bankroll and was fortunate enough to win up to 100$ and that's where I am right now. It's not much, i know, but putting in perspective my age and the fact that i got there from KIND OF NOTHING, I'll take it

So now that i have an actual bankroll that i can work with the main question is: what do i do now? do i play cash or MTT? I have to say i enjoy both, but if i had to choose, i'd probably go with tournaments but, then again it's only 100$ and i don't have a lot of options since i can only play on micro stakes.
cash st least seems more stable to me. I dunno.

Anyway, would love to hear your suggestions and experiences! Thanks!

I think when you're just starting out it is best to pick one practice and stick with it. Cash, MTTs and sit-n-gos are all different animals that require different skills and so imo it's best to master one than be a jack of all trades.

The question to ask yourself is what do you prefer? Tournaments will have a higher level of variance. The level of play is generally softer. Cash will be a more stable return once you become a winning player but it's tough, especially when first starting out. If you enjoy tournaments more then go that route. Cash games can be a grind and the thrill of a big score can certainly be more entertaining in tournaments.

I started out in the same manner. Won some money in a freeroll. I started playing sit-n-gos and did quite well early on. Moved on to MTTs and was probably break-even at best. I tried cash games back then too but was way too passive and mostly got hammered when I did. For a few years I only played tournaments because it was all I could beat. I built a bit of a roll and always found myself trying my luck at cash games and then losing what money I had built up from tournament play. Took a couple of years off and came back with the intention of really working on my game. I got some help from some people much better than me and now primarily only play cash games. I like being able to start/stop whenever I want to and not being locked into it like you are in a tournament. This past year or so I have built myself from 2NL to 25NL with some 50NL sprinkled in. I still feel like I am learning after every session and still have a long way to go.

Anyways, whatever route you decide to go just remember to have a bankroll plan in place and stick with it no matter what so you will never lose your roll. Good Luck!

Tournies:

Cons:
Big variance
Forced schedule
Long grind (FT a decent tourny would need at least 5h)

Pros:
Extrenly softer games compared to cash (boy small tournies are soooooooft)
Big pay day and rush for beating a big field when you hit big.

Cash:
Pros:
Free as a bird
Lower variance

Cons:
Harder than Tournies
No big payday
Constant work on your game is needed.

Me, personally have issues with sticking 8+ hours straight at the computer and I really can't handle going 5-6 hours in a Tourniy and get knocked-out by a fish with 43o resulting 0 money earned!
So I prefer cash games.
Thing about it and choose one. Stick to it

IMO, first thing to consider: tournaments will get you locked for long hours - no breaks allowed. You cant stop after 3hours and "continue tomorrow". If you think you will not like that, I would consider not giving priority to tournaments.

With a roll of $100, you don't have much room to maneuver. You are rolled to play $2NL, possibly even $5NL if you know you are winning, and not much else. I don't remember off the top of my head what sort of bankroll requirements a presumed winner needs for sit-and-goes, but I am thinking something along the lines of 30 to 50 buy-ins (so $2 to $3 buyin SNGs until you build your roll up more. MTTs are much higher variance, and so require a much larger number of buy-ins in your roll to play at an acceptable risk of ruin. I think even $1 tournaments would be flirting with disaster for a $100 bankroll.

So in your shoes, I would play $2NL cash games or $2 sit-and-goes.
