Hello Everyone!

I am looking for some opinions on an AK hand I played the other day at 2NL Zoom .. We have no read or history with this opponent as we have only played 9 hands total together

I feel the PF and Flop were played fairly standard. Possibly could have sized up slightly on the flop but I feel the c bet size is good overall.

The turn call is where I am looking for opinions / advice. My gut said to fold but my mind said I shouldn't be folding top set top kick in this spot or I would be folding too often so I made the call.

I was thinking that he would have likely raised all his sets 55,99 for protection / value on the flop given the monotone board texture and the likelihood of me having a K or a draw. Him x/c the flop made me think he had a pair or pair plus draw JcJx / QcQx / TcTx type hand, an AcQx / AcJx , or a weak suited King KQ that flatted my 3 bet PF. Also possible that held another AK combo... Of course it is always possible that he simply flopped a flush with a suited 8c7c or AcXc type hand.

When he checks to me again, I think it was correct to continue betting for value against the majority of that range plus protection vs his draws given that I have a strong top set. What are your thoughts?

When he "snap" shoved after my turn bet, my gut is saying that he flopped a flush and is trying to get value from my set of Kings. Although possible, I didn't put a lot of weight into him having a full house due to the logic of him likely to raise his sets on the flop. I convinced myself to call thinking that we really only need 25% equity which we almost have directly vs his made hands, and if he ever decides to turn his pair plus draw hands or his AcQx high blocker hands into a bluff thinking its less likely we have the K now, then we would definitely have enough equity to call in the long run and it would be wrong to fold top set with top kicker in this position.

What are your thoughts on my line of thinking and my overall decision?

Sorry for the long explanation, I appreciate any feed back!!

Ya I think you have no choice but to call this. You only need like 25% equity to make this call and V could easily be shoving worse Kx here. As well even if V has a flush you still have over 20% equity, and if V has a boat you still have 15% equity. Even if V never shoves as a bluff you still probably have to call.

Thanks for your input! I forgot to mention that he could also hold a weaker set of King's when he shoves turn. That factored into my thinking as well and also influenced a call.

Nice to see I'm on the right track.

44/0 is trending that way, even over just 9 hands

@WorldIzMine joked about it, but I think it's important to mention because a set is a far better holding than trips, and the semantics and the way people talk about things on here ("never fold a set in this spot" etc) might influence the way you play these spots next time.

But yeah trips =/= a set

Thank you for this comment ! Its funny, I have played a few hundred thousand hands and up until this point I actually called both a pocket pair and a single card making "trips" a set haha .. I would play each hand differently given the paired board vs non paired but I just referred to everything as a "set".
