V. Always has a J or better here and we have the odds to just call turn

Once V calls flop c/r I’m not sure why we’re c/r again on the turn? What is the thinking?

I just think when we c/r flop and x turn our hand looks like a draw. I’d probably just bet the turn or c/c.

What

Why

Why x/r again on the turn.

Just barrel turn, you picked up equity.

Pretty sure you just x/c turn

Hmm yeah I guess you are right. Blocking 77,J7,86,63s and having robust equity against his calling range was just too enticing, but the possibility of getting 3bet and having to fold probably tips the balance. Still not 100% sure. Thanks for the replies. Bonus question: if we have a c/r bluff here what would that be?

If I had to choose between this and barreling I would choose this though, I don't see why we would want to make him fold all the 5x and call with most of his better stuff.

x/c would be my default option when I don't have a bout of fancy play syndrome.

He's also folding 88-TT when we barrel, and possibly his weaker Jx hands.

a bit of a mess imo

flop I would generally xc. We don't wanna have a huge xr range here since we probably don't have too many strong Jx like AJ, rarely overpairs, and probably only J4s/J5s/45s. Meaning if we are check raising all our 76o it's probably overkill. I would probably check raise suited combos to mix or use an rng if you wanna take this line to keep your ranges from getting out of whack

anyway, turn, do you want a xc range? seems like checking sets+ or strong Jx (if you raise it) makes little sense given IP can check back a lot of peels to realise equity, like some pair + draw or w/e etc

so based on that barreling might make more sense to fold out his weaker floats and you can maybe bluff some rivers some % (again hard to map this out with so many combos in your range in game)

as for the turn xr, I think you need be going larger if you do this. repping something big trying to get value and hopefully force out the middle of his range like QJ, mediocre draws etc

the size is too small unless you want to set up a river shove a decent amount of the time as well to make up for getting called so much. idk what's better.

I think you have the right idea that you want to raise something with robust equity, but a better hand would probably be something like 6x+hearts, this hand just has too much sdv to turn into a bluff

Yeah, I think this is a check call all day.

I like this as a check raise when the situation is slightly different though, if we cbet with the draw and get called and then pick up the pair on the turn.

I only double check raise if it is also balanced with my triple check raise.

It is best to use this advanced technique when you don't care about the end result and you really just want to mess with someone.
