NL50 AQo Vs a Recreational Player NL50 AQo Vs a Recreational Player

So as reviewing my hands tonight I came across this one and found it interesting. I like how I played it, but would like feedback.

Hero (BB): 103 BB
UTG: 171.78 BB
MP: 188.72 BB
CO: 68.82 BB
BTN: 98.5 BB
SB: 58 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB, CO posts penalty blind 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.5 BB) Hero has Q A

UTG calls 1 BB, fold, CO raises to 2 BB, fold, fold, Hero raises to 8 BB, UTG calls 7 BB, fold

Flop: (18.5 BB, 2 players) 5 2 J
Hero bets 10 BB, UTG calls 10 BB

So on the flop I can X/C, X/R, Cbet or X/F. I decided to cbet here because AQo is not good enough on the flop to check/call, as vs my opp betting range (keeping in mind villian has a big range being he is a recreational player called a 3 bet in what could have been a MW pot if the PFR didnt fold) I would have only 25% equity. So that being said, if my opp puts out a 2/3 pot bet or bigger, I am not getting the best odds to call. So for that reason I feel making a cbet here is the best play to keep initiative and keep the price manageable for me to see the next card.

As an FYI if you want to throw it in Equilab, I have my opponents betting range as 99-22,AJo,A5o,A2o,KJo,QJo,JTo,65o,54o,A5s,A2s,K5s,K2s ,Q5s,Q2s,JTs-J2s,85s,75s,65s,54s,AsTs,As9s,As8s,As7s,As6s,As4s, As3s,KsTs,Ks9s,Ks8s,Ks7s,Ks6s,Ks4s,Ks3s,QsTs,Qs9s, Qs8s,Qs7s,Qs6s,Qs4s,Qs3s,Ts9s,Ts8s,Ts7s,Ts6s,9s8s, 9s7s,9s6s,8s7s,8s6s,7s6s,7s4s,6s4s

Now this is likely going to be his calling range as well as he is a rec player, and lots of these guys will get sticky with all pairs, and of course he isnt folding flush draws or OESD.

Turn: (38.5 BB, 2 players) Q
Hero bets 21 BB, UTG calls 21 BB

So on the turn I decide to throw out a 2nd barrel after I hit top pair top kicker. Some players when faced with the flush card on the board might want to check here, but by checking I would be giving my opponent the opportunity to bluff, and if he bets big enough it might be real hard to continue, so betting the Q here seems like my only option. It sucks I dont have a spade blocker, but thats even more reason to bet here I feel, and if my opp raises I can easily put him on a flush and I can fold without hesitation since I dont have a spade. As played, my opp doesnt raise, so I can feel OK about taking flushes out of his range. Sure he can still have flushes, but it is less likely.

River: (80.5 BB, 2 players) 5
Hero bets 35 BB, UTG calls 35 BB

On the turn here with the 5 coming out, I am put in another tough spot, as now he has a ton of 5's that he was calling with on the turn since I dont think he would have been folding any of his pairs. Again this is a spot where I dont see how I can check here, because he then can bet his entire range and bluff me off the pot. My only real play here is to bet. I think an underbet is best here to soften the blow if I should happan to lose the hand. Still there are hands that are worse which can call me here to an underbet, like any Jx or Qx. If he has a hand like a full house or flush I can feel confident he will raise here and I can just fold. In retrospect what I could have done differently here was bet even smaller, but still im ok with the underbet because I could still be betting for value. I have put the results in the spoiler if you care to see, but please feel free to leave any feedback on my thought process.

Keep in mind that part of this process if because I have been studying the 1% of poker. This hand is on the borderline of the concepts it teaches which is why I find this hand so interesting.

Spoiler:
Hero shows Q A (Two Pair, Queens and Fives)
UTG shows J Q (Two Pair, Queens and Jacks)
UTG wins 144.5 BB
