Maybe I should start doing an experiment. There are generally 3 types of coolers.

Type 1: I am very confident in my hand strength and beat the V into the pot with my money, and don't sweat it if I lose. Set over set on a draw heavy board type stuff.

Type 2: I'm well aware that I could be beat but am confident that I am far enough ahead of even the guys value range that paying him off is the right play. 2-pair vs. a range that's top pair heavy.

Type 3: I have a strong hand but V makes a play and I say to myself "**** me I'm beat here aren't I, but I have to call." Sometimes the V shows up with some weird random airball that makes no sense or an overplay, but I feel like I'm right about these spots a lot. It happened yesterday when in a deep 5-bet pot I had AA and the flop came K high and I got x/jammed on. He had KK and I paid it off.

The type 3 hands seem to happen often enough that maybe I should try to start sampling them and see if I would come out ahead if I just hero folded more often in those spots.

My point being this is a type 3 hand. I'd never fold it. But maybe I should at least consider it?

On nl25, as my redline goes downhill, my winrate skyrockets, by accident?

My rule of thumb is this is never a bluff. You just have to determine the player type and whether or not they could be doing this with worse hands for value....and in this case, there are definitely SOME worse hands that could do this for value. However, I think given the action people usually respect the live flush out there.

The problem is, there are usually fewer worse hands in SB range than BB range which makes it more tedious.

TLDR, it's a tough fold in game but I think you can do it versus a passive player.

Better question... If you're against a tag and he check shoves you...that would suck depending on your sizing.

+1 for getting it in on flop happily

and also try to play against him more often after he shows that hand.
