ok, so, yes I did cold deck villain, but my point of posting this is not to show my zomg sick 5nl cooler. I was planning on barreling a lot of turns in this texture. I do have backdoor diamonds, but I think that a lot of his ace high floats should probably contain a diamond, so I discounted the relevance of this somewhat. I was going to barrel a lot of middling offsuit turns, like an eight or a nine looks good, obviously broadways are bad for my percieved range as they don't coordinate with the texture, and improve villain's range. A board pair is probably also going to be a continue for me, especially a 5, as I can have 2 pairs that fill, top pair that is c/r for value against a dominated ace. How is my c/r sizing? also, I would probably size down on turn if barreling, my sizing is a little bit big perhaps, but I figured that we were in the exact situation that we were in, and wanted to commit villain. does like .95 look better for a turn barrel on a favorable card for my range? Also, is my defend too loose? I think this is the absolute bottom of my defending range, but villain is in HJ, and is running some pretty bad LAGgy stats.
Fold preflop. I don't even defend 76o from BTN open let alone HJ. As played check-raise is good, continuing on Diamond,8,9,4,7,6,and Ace turns. Probably overbet turn is more profitable since we put All high pocket pairs in a really tough spot and obviously stack Ax on this turn. I don't like Villains cbet on this board texture, nh.
confirmed that I cannot find a single defending range online HJ vs BB that includes 76o lol. I am trying to get out of these spew situations, and I know that it is a fairly sizable mistake. I am really trying to work on my preflop game, and that's not even an error, it's not even playable considering position, initiative, raw equity vs even a trashy opening range etc etc. I am weak on my preflop game, but I am trying to improve it.
At least you're putting effort into getting better by researching.
A poster named simplelessons recently posted a few threads based on preflop play though it's more about opening hands but it may help a bit. Simple's started threads.
I'm sure a lot of what you're looking for is found in Beginners Questions sticky at the top of the forum.
