I'd raise flop given he's going to take the free card with air.

One of those spots preflop where we level ourselves into thinking villain has kk+. Yes, he does this time, but he also probably has 77-qq and big aces. So I'm usually just getting it in preflop at these stack depths.

As played, I like a flop check raise.

As played on the river, your average 25nl is very nitty in big pots and will typically check back qq+ and give up with bluffs on this run out. Against some players you can pile this in on the river. Against others, third pot will get crying calls from his narrowly defined range.

shouldn't we want him to take a free card with air?

usually avoid CC'ing oop like this with such a good hand, we can be ahead of CO's CC range with JJ easy enough.

As played, when the turn goes x/x you have got to bet river readless (no reads that villain will completely spazz out with bluffs), you're right theres little incentivisation to bluff with a lot of dead money in the pot. i think the fact villain showed KK should be an important lesson to learn from for not betting once we get to river. lot of lost value.

fwiw i think the x/c with top set is fine, theres no turn cards we are folding to. x/r with 99 is far better as we unblock parts of villains continuing range
