CO: 111 BB (VPIP: 16.67, PFR: 16.67, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 6)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A J

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, BB calls 2 BB

Flop: (6.5 BB, 2 players) T 6 6
BB checks, Hero bets 2 BB, BB calls 2 BB

Turn: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 7
BB checks, Hero checks

River: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 3
BB bets 5 BB, fold

BB wins 10 BB

Here's the thing. Given my betsize on the flop, it feels like villain should have a lot of brodway type holdings. Should I be calling this river?

No, don't hero. It's wrong to think that just because you bet 1/3 they don't have anything.

Yeah it is wrong to think that they don't have anything just because you bet 1/3. That doesn't mean you shouldn't call AdJd here, clearly you have to call some A high hands vs this sizing. Whether AJ is good call is debatable, maybe you want A8 and A9 before AJ, AK and AQ are also reasonable

for the 2 reasons we bet or raise : make the pot bigger in case we win and denying equity

To keep it very simple - riverbet indicates some sort of value so we should fold.

No need to bet this flop. Just check it down.

To be honest, this 1/3 pot size bet on the flop might be a bit of fancy play syndrom by me.

I know it's very standard for many mid/high stakes pro to use very small bet sizes on very dry flops with 100% of their ranges. The benefits are that I extract value from very weak holdings, protect my equity/buff for a very cheap price and allow villain to go to the turn with a very weak range. Considering a kind of tight defending range for BB of 17.5%, Equilab says villain has 23.5% of nothing and I have 23.5% odds on my bet. If a standard micro villain is defending an even wider range than that I have an extremely profitable bet here don't I? I mean, if the average villain is overfolding why give them the opportunity to see a turn an outdraw me when I'm already making money by betting 100% of my range.

Problem is I always get confused about what to do on different turns, which holding to pick to bluff, especially when I don't improve. Thinking more carefully I now think that I should be using this hand to bluff catch on the river as it's still quite high in my distribution, given that I'm betting 100% of my pre-flop range on that flop.

You should bet small on flops that hit your range. This one doesn't.
