Would a check raise on the turn have been a better line here?

I don't play 100NL, but I'd be checking flop a lot.

betting flop is fine, you should be checking most 8x FDs in this spot, but if you want to bet few, A8 is the best one to do so. Turn donk makes no sense, it disturbs your own strategy the most, it takes away certain info you could gain from villain. Now what on river? is this the best hand you can have in this spot? Do you ever check river with FH or donk with Tx on turn? Probably not, A8ss has very good blockers (he is probably not bluffing with draws that consist any pair on this river so you don't block his bluffing range, you also block his value range. He can still bluff with all the missed FDs or straight draws. I can't imagine you will have better calling hand in this spot.
