Was I just unlucky here? Obviously with the K of spades I block his AKs, so didn't put him on the nuts. Thanks in advance

Just a cooler. V can show up with sets, two pair, weaker flush draws etc. It’s normally pretty hard to get away from the 2nd nuts vs the nuts in these specific situations. It’s like AA vs KK pre, you’re probably gunna go broke if you have the latter!

I doubt villain raises turn on monotone as a bluff at 2nl unless you have a read and definitely not raising a Q high flush or less. Check back turn

V’s at 2NL raise with worse hands because they’re 100% convinced they have the winning hand at all times. Their thought process is often “oh, I hit a jack high flush, nice, GII” or “oh well, 4 to a flush but I’m not folding when I probably had the best hand on the flop”. Against weak players you need to pile the cash in unless you have specific reads on them.

The villains I play with at 2NL are mostly passive fish that wont raise strong without the immortal nuts. You do get the odd fish that wont care about 4 to a flush on the board but I feel they are the minority.

I would check back turn and if villain checks the river then you could bet for value, if he bets river then just call as a raise only gets called by better.

So... This is wrong.

Piling money in here is a fantastic way to lose like 45 BI at NL2. You could be the new pastey.

K-hi is a cooler, but Jesus Christ.

I haven’t played 2NL for over 4-5 years, so don’t want to comment on population tendencies.

Would you just call down with the K high flush here? I play 5NL at the moment, against a short stack I’d probably end up getting the money in too... so interested to know if others would be laying this down. Might be a leak in my game against weaker opponents.

At 5NL I see V’s spaz out all the time on these boards, I had a guy jam 140BB with a 9 high flush yesterday! I called with the 2nd nuts on a similar board to this.. I might need to look at my database as maybe I’m spewing too.
