BB: 104.5 BB (VPIP: 54.43, PFR: 29.63, 3Bet Preflop: 15.48)
Hero (BTN): 100 BB
SB: 95.5 BB (VPIP: 50.83, PFR: 27.36, 3Bet Preflop: 12.84)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 9 9

Hero raises to 4 BB, SB calls 3.5 BB, BB calls 3 BB

Flop: (12 BB, 3 players) 2 J 8
SB checks, BB bets 9 BB, Hero calls 9 BB, fold

Turn: (30 BB, 2 players) 5
BB bets 22.5 BB,
Spoiler:
fold

BB wins 30 BB and shows 2

Due to multiwayness, Hero cannot defend very loosely, would expect to defend Jx, overpairs, strong draws, and perhaps some MPs would be a better choice over this 2nd pair with BDFD/SD. Does this mean 99 should be dumped OTF?

Hero picks up a weak draw OTT. Is this enough to continue?

99 with a is a lot stronger than Jx without

I think this is a call because I would rather fold a random Jx without a diamond than 99 with a diamond because your opponent is mostly repping J8, 22, 88, or a flush, maybe AJ, and Jx doesn't block too many of those and has less equity vs that range. You can also fold mid pairs without a diamond, 8x without a diamond, and any straight draws without a diamond that you didn't raise on the flop. The fact that the jack is the jack of diamonds means that if you are folding Jx no diamond over 99 with a diamond, that's going to be most of your jacks.

I would rather call 8x with a diamond than 99 with a diamond but I still think you have enough hands you'd want to fold over 99d

If the jack on the board was not a diamond I think this would probably be a fold because you could have a lot more Jx with a diamond than you do here

Looks like my turn call hand selection needs work.

Still don't like the 4x open, although it's probably fine if both opponents are fish.

I'm calling turn but not loving it. This is a spot where I get to the turn with like QsJc and fold, telling myself that hands like Ad8x or 9d9x are much better calls instead because we have more outs when behind and block villain's value range to some extent... but then I always get skittish when I do have to make these kind of calls.
