I find bb vs sb a bit hard to play and often end up in situations like this one.

How do you play bb vs sb?

PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

CO: 136.6 BB (VPIP: 30.77, PFR: 15.38, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 13)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has 7 A

fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3 BB, Hero calls 2 BB

What's this guy's attempt to steal?what's his cbet, tbet, you don't have to defend your blind this wide vs non aggressive blind stealers. I realize u don't have hh on him but you just aren't gonna run into people who are blasting it at the micros for your blind. I would honestly 3b pre so you at least have visibility here if ur gonna defend.

You're gonna get yourself into Soooo much trouble overdefending/running GTO defend range vs people who are understealing in the first place

This defend is fine, your in position and people are actually stealing pretty wide, if you want to know how wide then start 3 betting a tonne of hands Blind v Blind and you will be surprised at the fold equity your generating. You are going to have to be folding on Ax boards at some frequency but in position you will also be able to do a lot of bluffing versus weak ranges. Of course if someone is tight pre then just snap fold it pre and move on.

Yeah, I'm not really folding many Ax hands in the BB against a 2x-3x raise from SB. Most of the time I'd 3-bet with a suited A due to us having blockers. You can still mix it in with a weaker ace like A7o, but flatting is fine too.

River is interesting. We block 97 and AT, but lots of other Tx hands in his range and he could obviously have us outkicked. Pretty tempted to call but not sure if we can.

River is strange. We get to fold most of our range here due to the terrible pot odds. Doubt he takes this line with Ax therefore having the 7 kicker is actually pretty nice for blocking the straight but don't think it's too relevant. To be honest whenever I have seen this line it is pretty much always a boat. It seems like he's jamming because he is hoping you have a ten and can't fold, see this all the time. Even having a ten here I am not happy because if you really think about it what bluffs can he have? He would have to be going crazy with QJ/KQ/99. It's possible but fairly uncommon, it would be very assumptive to give him enough of these bluffs to consider a call.

One interesting point is does he really have any naked tens that bet flop/turn and rivered trips? What ten is he potting the turn? Very unlikely he does this so that narrows his range on the river to boats/air. Another thing to consider is you will have some tens here yourself which means you can pretty much always fold Ax. It also means his line is even stronger as he seemingly is not wary of you having a ten yourself.

Maybe he bluffed you but honestly if he did then that's fine, your really not giving up too much equity here.

Calling this turn pot bet seems bad in nl5z.
Overfold turn, let him cry with 88
