Hey. As part of my learning proccess, and to help more beginner players here, I will be posting hand histories of mine with an analysis that I write afterwards,
So hopefully the more experienced players can share their opinions on the hand and the analysis.
Thanks to everyone who can help
Villain: 35/16 over a 40 hands, probably a rec player.
BB: 89 BB
Hero (UTG): 109.5 BB
MP: 77 BB
CO: 104.5 BB
BTN: 123 BB
SB: 112 BB
SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q

Hero raises to 3 BB,

BTN raises to 8.5 BB,

Hero raises to 23 BB, BTN calls 14.5 BB
PREFLOP: Hero’s range is a favorite (approx) vs villains linear 3bet range, if his 3bet range is polar we have even more.
Also - playing out of position post flop especially 3 streets with queens is not optimal, we prefer a 1-2 street game, and therefore we will 4bet here almost always to have a lower SPR postflop.
Flop: (47.5 BB, 2 players) 6
A
9
Hero checks,
BTN bets 13 BB,
Hero calls 13 BB
FLOP: We check the flop since its A high. our SDV isn’t vulnerable, there arent many worse hands that he calls if we bet, and value is not urgent. We can happily check call.
When he bets - especially this small size, we happily call.
Turn: (73.5 BB, 2 players) 7
Hero checks,
BTN bets 20 BB,
Hero calls 20 BB
TURN: Villain barrels again and now we have to ask the question: even though the bet size is small: does villain do this often with hands that we beat that called our 4bet preflop? Hands like TT, JJ, QK? The question is: not often enough. Thats why we should be folding this spot.
River: (113.5 BB, 2 players) 6
Hero checks,
BTN bets 67 BB and is all-in,
fold
