CO is too small and your always playing a pot with 66 here as a pure mine
unless you have some very serious reads/info

i say fold, position doesnt matter here with CO cold calling that raise so short
your basically calling for a 6

What about this exact scenario except UTG had made it 9BB from utg?

I think I would also call to a 9BB. Reason being that it either represents massive strength AA-KK, or a Maniac agro fish. Given that it's very likely to be one of these cases, I think we're very likely to get full stacks when we hit out set.

Edit: all of that being said the 9BB raise is now getting close. If we're only 100blinds effective it's probably a fold just strictly based on math. We're calling 9BB to win 100BB (we need to hit 11% of time, flopped sets hit 12%) which means if we hit our set we will be +EV if we get the money in EVERY time, but we will not get the money in EVERY time which we need to be doing to be +EV.

if we're 150 blinds effective and there are 2 fish in the pot I think it becomes a call for 9BB.

Considering the frequency of a 9bb open from UTG, I wouldnt lose any sleep over how to react to it.

The things is you are happy UTGs range is so strong in this spot because you are banking on implied odds. This is pretty much an ideal set mining spot and the CO coming along for the ride only makes it more profitable, even if they are short stacked.

When set mining you want villains to have strong hands.
And multiway pots/shorties coming along is good because they bloat the pot, which reduce the Stacks/pot ratio, which makes it more likely you get the stacks in when you hit (and could even get more than just 1 stack in, because the CO playing 30bb, probably doesn't have much requirement to ship it in).

Yeah basically the math works out something like you need to make 10x your investment. So if you think that you will earn 90bb when you make a set, it's fine. But I think the money really comes from getting in these pots with deep stacks and/or fish, and/or against strong opening ranges. And position is a nice little bonus. I think I'd need to know I'd be playing with two players who give me good implied odds and deep effective stacks to call a 9x.
