Dealt to Hero: A 7

UTG Folds, HJ Folds, CO Folds, HERO Raises To $0.50, SB Folds, BB Raises To $1, HERO Calls $0.50

Hero SPR on Flop: [12.82 effective]
Flop ($2.10): 8 6 8
BB Bets $0.75 (Rem. Stack: 35.31), HERO Calls $0.75 (Rem. Stack: 26.18)

Turn ($3.60): 8 6 8 5
BB Checks, HERO Bets $5 (Rem. Stack: 21.18), BB Raises To $11 (Rem. Stack: 24.31), HERO Raises To $26.18 (allin)

Pre and flop are standard for me.

I choose to overbet the turn because I believe the action caps villain's range to mostly pairs and over cards while ours is uncapped (66, 55, 8x, 97s). Most of my betting range wants to either play a big pot or maximize fold equity, so it seems like a pretty good spot to go big.

It gets interesting after we overbet and he clicks it back (second time he has done it). V doesn't look like a reg, so I'm not too interested in balance. My reasons for raising are 1) we get him to fold out his random spazz hands, if for instance he is clicking buttons with AJ 2) all of our outs are scare cards on this board, so we probably don't get paid very often when we improve. Although maybe that's not true if this guy is a fish.

Can you elaborate on why? Do you have a population read that they never fold?

I just ran the hand though a fold equity calculator.

You have an equity when called of roughly 24 % when the continues with his Trips, Sets and QQ+.

That means you need approx 34 % folds for this semi-bluff to break even.
I doubt he has a wide enough range in this spot to fold that much.

I'd call his raise and be happy when my big draw completes.

It's hard to tell what to do without any real stats. I don't understand what you mean by him calling your overbet twice. Is he a bad player or a good player and do you have any indication of either?

With that said, villain min-3B preflop. Doubt he will min bet with big pairs. He could have a wide variety of hands here, 8x's included, pairs, Axs, any broadway. Essentially he's only raising a standard preflop bet.

You can't really bluff him off after he raises you on the turn. He's already pot committed.

The fact that he raises you on the turn probably indicates he's holding Trips, Full House or Straight. He wouldn't check raise you with an OP on a board like that. A call would have been more likely on his part if he had an OP.

Also no reason to overbet. Use overbets bluffs on easier boards.

You're getting too complex on a $25 NL game.

I think the turn overbet is fine, and his click back is very strange.
It's a weird spot that I'm not familiar with (villain could have just about anything), but I think you probably lack the fold equity required for shoving, and calling the turn would probably work out better.

I think you made a simple situation into a complicated one.
