200NL bb1/2 63$ stack (31bb)

My backer wants me to adopt a short stack strat @the 1/2 200NL on GG Network which I m fine with as this is a valid strat in a pretty weak pool of players. (What do you guys think abt that?)

Anyway, I m told to min bi -> 40$ @1-2 blinds -> 20bb stack

I ran it up to 63$ -> 31.5bb then comes that hand.

I m in the BB with 31.5bb eff 6max, players tend to be pretty lag on this site, no tracker allowed and no particular read as this is part of the first hands i played at that table.

V1 utg 70bb: 3x pre to 6$
V2 HJ 60bb : flat 6$
Hero 31bb: J10o in bb (2$)

Pot: 6+6+1(sb)+2= 15$
Hero has to put 4$ to win 19$ -> almost 5 to 1 therefore Hero needs 20% equity vs V1 and V2 preflop ranges.
VS lag oppos, we do. so Hero complete 4$

Here is the problem:

My backer told me that J10o vs UTG 3x and HJ flat was a -EV call regarding his short stack ultra tight strategy that he wants me to adopt.
We had a little argument because imho, even sitting on 31.5bb vs utg V1 3x range and V2 flatting range, J10o is a +EV defend vs lag oppos

What do you guys think abt that?

Are you defending here while playing a short stack nitty strat or are you folding.

In a short stack tight vacuum and in that precise spot is that J10o a +EV defend or a -EV def.

I dont have access to range and equity calculator programms as i am at work.

Could someone please give me some inputs?

I think it is a good call. BB gets a pretty good price to play a lot of hands. The only downside is you are OOP.

As said before itt, fold> exploit shove> flat

Agreed... OOP vs two players where you never fully realize your equity in this spot vs two aggressive opponents.

Although J10s I think is a flat here def.

I would try to break this down by most important criteria.

First and foremost, the price is correct in order to be profitable.

Secondly, the SPR dynamic that you're about to entire into will probably force you to under-realize your equity, particularly multi-way. Short stackers don't get to flat reasonable range of hands in a non straddle/non ante game.

Thirdly, whatever the rake is. High rake = flat less

Fourthly, stop playing short-stacked at 200nl if you aren't 150% sure of what you need to be doing in similar spots.

The rake would have to be higher than "normal" (5% up a to cap) for JTo to be a fold in this spot 100bb deep, even vs the LJ (UTG w/e) and 3x sizing.
