Also many hands in our range(99,TT,JJ) really like protection and struggle to get value with bigger bets. We can also bluff cheaply this way!

Well I don't think the population is overbluffing here. There are a ton of passive players that like to slowplay at those stakes. I thought his range is capped when he X the turn but this line makes me believe there could still be a decent chunk of QQ-AA and 8x here. We would have to hope that our opponnents are spazzing enough AK, AQ etc when getting terrible pot odds.... And there arent even any draws he could shove.....Yeah I'd muck that!
