.50/1 blinds. effective=100
6 max online.
MP opens to 3.
SB calls.
Hero BB 99hd calls.
(9) Flop 963chh
SB checks. Hero bets 6. MP calls. SB folds.
(21) Turn 4h
Hero bets 10.5. MP raises to 31. Hero calls.
(83) Riv 4d
hero bets 60 all in.

This whole hand is pretty weird but ive been working on getting out of the habit of auto-checking to the previous aggressor and thinking more about how the board favors each players range. That said im not sure Im doing it right. thoughts?

I prefer x flop since leads require a lot of work in general and doesnt make sense vs a pop who cbets too much

Hmmm I don’t think people are aimlessly cbetting here with naked overs (even 2 overs with 1 heart tbh)
So we’re really only getting a c/r off against 9X, TT+, 78, flush draws. Which all call a donk bet at least (although c/r would be better vs these hands).

A lot of our range is vulnerable to over cards here and we really don’t want to check if we expect it to check thru a lot.

Also betting might get action from the Sb even if MP folds so we don’t mind that before a scare card rolls off

I don't hate the donkbet, as this is the kind of spot where the PFR will check back quite often, and you can easily balance by also donking 87s and/or 54s, but I'm very comfortable checking my entire range. I don't think you gain much, if any, EV by leading out, and the correct strategy is easier to remember if you never donk.
As played, I'd check the turn when the FD gets there.

Cool I’ve been pushing myself to not simplify my strategy for the sake of it being easier. This means working on balancing both a betting and a c/r in spots, and balancing multiple bet sizings in some spots.

I think the hands that benefit most from a donk bet here are weak pairs that don’t want to give free cards to naked overs.

Checking the turn seems ok but I think villain can have lots of pocket pairs with 1 heart that we can value target still but I guess the card favors a calling range

check OOP is standard, understand why but ya this is not winning for sure even tho you have top set you are losing out on EV
