I've never said the first you should do after college is buying a watch. If you got loans, this also subtracts from your salary and what not. Now you are arguing semantics, while I clearly posted a guideline for people, so the watch looks somewhat congruent with the rest.

Btw, I am more and more convinced that the "American fashion is different, LOL Europe" is an excuse for people. People just dont care about fashion and dont educate themselves, so they get personally offended when someone criticizes their taste.
Fashion, a general term for a currently popular style or practice, especially in clothing, foot wear or accessories.

So please explain how we dont know fashion...You seem to think fashion is black and white, you are either this one specific style or your wrong. And that is not the case.

Also I really loled at this: If you got loans, this also subtracts from your salary and what not

You obv dont know what salary means

I simply say:
Most people disagreeing with me here dont even spend the same amount of time on fashion as I do.
Most people dont back their claims with knowledge. "It's different in the US" is not a fashion statement, but a poor excuse.

What are you trying to argue now? If you got loans and you cant afford a watch then please dont buy one, do yourself a favor and get rid of loans and what not.
You are now trying to argue semantics with me. I assume that's because you cant really antagonize my position.

Edit: I dont try to argue that people should definitely buy a watch that costs exactly 1 month's salary. It was a guideline. As usual, if you cant afford it, dont buy it, if it doesnt fit your style, dont wear it, but making claims that are catastrophically uneducated and then accusing me of being stupid or w/e is sad.

I wear a wife beater or a vneck (if concerned about sweating) assuming the shirt isnt see through. I used to wear normal white tshirts as undershirts but I'm not really a fan of seeing the undershirt anymore. But I think it would feel weird to wear no undershirt at all.

Is there an upper-end cut off for the "1 month salary" thing? I hate to think how much my bf would have to spend on a stupid hunk of metal.

Ya I get that. I'm not a fan of wifebeaters/V-necks personally b/c of my chest hair (don't worry poonis i groom it). Honestly I just feel cleaner with an undershirt on.

poonis - golddigger? jkjkjk

I have that except in navy and beige. Pretty nice. Not a fan of those black shoes. They would look great in any shade of brown or navy blue imo.

Nice watch I'm not personally a fan of the fabric strap though.

I have a nice metal band also, I just don't like wearing it when at school because it's heavier and there's way too many opportunities for me to scratch it up as I run around campus. I usually change out the black one when I go out.

I've never been a fan of flip flops really. It doesn't even get that hot for very long where I live, so I have never really owned a pair.

Anybody got some brands/styles that I should look for?
03-28-2011 , 04:48 PM
reef fanning for sure. they're super comfy because they have the sole of shoe and don't look too bad either.

Rainbows.

Dunno the brand off the top of my head, but the ones with brazil flags. Get lots of compliments on them. Don't ebay them unless you want fakes.

Rainbows... uhh I guess perhaps elsewhere. They are good quality for sure, but in florida people will ask you where you got your 5-year-old sandals. (As in they were very popular/faddish here 5 years ago, not that they are made for 5 year olds. Dunno how to better word that lol)

Yeah rainbows kinds blow IMO. Reefs or havainas
03-29-2011 , 09:06 PM
haivanas! that was the name.

Wanna get a new watch... I like the square face B & R watches a lot, but the only one that looks really good imo is this all black one. The watch I have now is all black so I don't want another murdered out one. You guys seen anything like this lighter colored?

Considering I got my pair about 5 years ago, I guess I never kept up with the evolving flip flop fads.

I guess this is a style thread, so don't take what I say too seriously. B&R is usually considered a joke in the world of horology. They use very basic ETA movements (movements that are sold to watch assemblers) with almost no modifications to the movement for most, if not all of their watches. The price of an ETA movement is generally in the ~$350 range depending on the grade of the movement. The problem with B&R is that they come with a hefty price tag 10 times the cost of the movement. So basically they just come up trendy designs for watches and charge 10x the price of the cost to make it.

So, to get to my point...while B&R makes some interesting designs there are significantly better made watches out there that you can get for half the price of B&R. If the looks is all you really care about, I would honestly just buy a fake B&R watch for $100. The movements that go inside fake watches nowadays is decent for the price.

I can't really think of something to compare it to, but just think of buying a base 3 series for 250k. Might look good and be a step above typical Toyota and Honda, but with a hefty price that could allow you to buy something much better.

But yeah, if all you want is the looks, go for a fake and save yourself a couple of thousand dollars. You will have enough money to buy a lot of fakes.
