Hey guys. Been looking for a while for a simple Navy Blazer (38R). I'm at the point where I just want to buy the damn thing.

After months of lurking StyleForum classifieds, eBay, reddit, etc, nothing has materialized.

Looking to stay under 400. Willing to purchased pre-owned.

I'm thinking of just pulling the trigger on the SuitSupply Havana blazer. Possibly still considering the slightly cheaper Jcrew Ludlow.

Suggestions?

SuitSupply is a safe bet (unless they've started adding poly to their cheaper suits as well now).

Haha believe it or not I've actually found something on styleforum after all this ***** time. Trying to put the deal together right now on a SS blazer. Unreal.

Their blazers are still 100% wool according to the site.

They say wool or do they explicitly state 100% wool?

Some of their sweaters now have poly in them and they dont properly disclaim it. I do think that the suits and SCs are still 100% wool (or at least 100% of non-poly).

Yeah it doesn't state 100% wool. Just Pure Wool.

Sounds like vague terminology to me.

I ended up purchasing one on SF. It's not Navy it's "speckled blue". Looks great though. 50% of retail so I'm happy ATM.

Moving onto shirts!

About to pull the trigger on 2 Kamakura shirts. Did a quick search and didn't see them mentioned in this thread. Consensus seems to be that they crush BB fit wise and surpass them on fabric and quality as well.

Do you guys have a mix of crew neck and v neck sweaters or do you stick to one style? I have probably a 2 to 1 ratio of v neck to crew neck for all my tees and sweaters for variety. I picked up five slim merino sweaters from J. Crew this weekend, three v neck and two crew neck. Just curious what peoples thoughts are on this.

all my t shirts are crew neck, all my sweaters are v neck

i just prefer the way shirts look/feel under a v neck compared to crew neck sweater

Probably not the best thread for that but I'm gonna travel 3 weeks through Iran. I guess I'm gonna walk into cities a lot and maybe do one 2-3 days trek (not high mountain /nor technical) and see some ruins.
What sort of shoes would you wear. Would like to have something that is comfy and yet not painfully ugly and in which I can actually walk some distance if not too technical. I have no idea about those so I'd welcome any advice.

JLB,

I would just wear normal shoes in the city which mostly need to be matched to your clothing anyway so figure out and specify what you will be wearing. Generally probably some chukkas or a generic leather slip on (like a driving shoe) should do. For the trek - why not just buy whatever is going to be be most appropriate on the spot? Kind of hard to figure out what you need because it's specific but most likely nobody on the forum will know so I'd just buy the shoes for that there.

Shoes for dive bars/messy places? I was thinking boat shoes.

anything that you don't mind getting scuffed up and looks halfway decent.

desert boots are usually my choice for dive bars.

Yeah boat shoes or desert boots.

Desert boots are usually suede, right? Dunno about that

Speaking of shoes, a few sole-related questions:
- how often do you guys get your shoes resoled
- what types of soles do you get

I am asking cause I got two pairs semi high-end shoes in March, and had to get both pair resoled in September. The four individual shoes had holes at the exact same place. In those 6 months I also wore other shoes at times than those two. I always have a hole in this exact spot. Pretty sure in need to consult an orthopedist.

Yes, you need to. I got the exact same problem.
I always get a hole here:

yup exactly there

I think some thoughts on these dress boots. I most likely be wearing them with khaki pants and then i'll get some chinos to wear with them.
They are within price range trying keep them between $100-200.

Edit: anytime i try to post pics they were too small. Here are the links.
