Shoes like those are very versatile and would be my suggestion:

what? ive never ever seen someone suggesting anything like that in the styleforum SW&D part.

must be the CM part, ive never checked it out myself, but have heard its full of old closed-minded males which makes sense.

spurious,

you would wear them with charcoal v-neck, black jeans and white shirt?

Never been to SW&D, afraid of that place, but in CM, the opinion is quite common.

I'm convinced SW&D is one huge level. So much of the stuff that gets praised is just down right awful.

Very good shoe suggestions by Spurious. Saved two of the links myself for potential future purchases.

what is SW&D/CM? on styleforum?
06-12-2013 , 11:07 AM
I'm not even surprised at this point.

E: SWD is Streetwear and Denim section, CM is Classical Menswear.

I dont trust an opinion of someone who thinks streetwear isnt a form of fashion(or a level). Classic menswear is a pretty safe form of fashion, which is fine, but far from the only fashionable clothes out there. Especially for ****ing students, being young is the time you can take risk with the fashion, seeing a 30 year old rock street wear may be a little weird as in the business environment its not appropriate, but college students can easily rock it and look good.

please explain what is wrong with the sandal thread?
its not stuff i'd blow money on but i can appreciate the innovations and sandals can look really cool in the right outfits.

http://www.styleforum.net/t/85589/th...en-thread/0_50

this thread is full of people who only post in the CM forum apart from this thread. guys who have big alden collections are referred as "uncle" and guys who have only few pairs are referred to as "nephew".
**** is really ****ing weird.

There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but as someone who tries to improve his own style I'm going to be critical of other people's style. It's the same as if someone is trying to become a better poker player they're going to critique other players. Nothing wrong with it.

Maybe I should have put a after my original "SW&D is a level" comment--of course it's a legit style of fashion, as is pretty much anything. There is plenty of terrible stuff posted in CM as well, I just think there's a higher portion of it in SW&D (some of the stuff is seriously so over-the-top). People can dress however the **** they want though which is the beauty of it.

However, I do think there are things that are pretty much universally terrible and most of those sandals fall in that range (same as if someone posted a $75 dollar pair of square toe Dockers dress shoes which happens fairly often ITT, every single poster tells them no and they learn).

A few months ago I actually called a couple people out for the uncle/nephew thing. Seriously ****ing weird.

Orthopedic shoes are quite common among the elderly.

yeah lol like with bathing suits and a tanktop at the beach.

would love to see an example you have in mind, because im just not buying it.

Sandals should never be worn except at the pool/beach/boat. Or I guess if you actually lived in a desert and had to walk on tons of sand.
