Do people legit not know what Birkenstocks are itt? They were pretty popular when I was in middle school years ago.

icwudt, but your facts are way wrong (SHOCKING). I see them almost every day especially when it's warm.

What did I say that was supposed to be factual? In my experience, they used to be popular, but not anymore. I really don't see many people wearing them these days.

You must live somewhere cold?

The first time i heard of birkenstocks was on a Dave Chappelle stand up show.

they were EXTREMELY popular in high school until a rumor went around that the dude who founded the company was a huge neo nazi. after that they really dropped off. we didnt even have a lot of jews in my HS. it was weird.

also i like them.

I've only seen them worn as work shoes in an office/factory environment, as they're supposed to be comfortable.

Mid-top boat shoes? Are you black? Are you trying to be like LazyTops5?

Also you can't really tell how those look with that picture.

I came across these shoes after looking at these jeans on true religion. I emailed the company with the picture and asked what kind of shoes they were but they never emailed me back and they arent on their site. Can anyone help me with an actual link to buy these shoes?

I wouldn't buy sneakers from True Religion though.

Whats wrong with sneakers from true religion? Got any other shoes that are similar that you would reccomend?

the true religions are nice from 12 o'clock but kinda trashy from the sides

I'm with disko, I don't like the sides on them. As for my other comment I just wouldn't in general buy sneakers like that from True Religion, I'd just buy CP's or something. But yeah I mean, if you like the look/they are comfortable go for it.

Mid-top boat shoes are absurd. You can only wear them with pants, and there is no reason to buy them over regular boat shoes.

Of course you can only wear them with pants, but ballers got lots of shoes and I can see that show looking good with a lot of outfits involving jeans/chinos.

Sneakers, loafers, or boots. Boat shoes aren't a winter shoe. I'd also avoid black boat shoes.

Also, they look way worse in this picture.

Henry, disko, would either of you buy a non-Swiss watch? And by non-Swiss, I mean it has no Swiss time components (inner workings and craftsmanship).

my work-only watch (pic below, and lol yes im still at work killself) is quartz. it retails for about 1k but i got a sick deal on it and got it for less than half price. it's obviously not a prestigious watch by any stretch of the imagination but it looks fairly expensive and serves its purpose.

if i didnt get such a great deal on it, id never ever spend 1k on a quartz watch. there's no practical reason but obviously swiss watches are much more prestigious and showcase unparalleled craftsmanship. so while there ARE nice quartz watches out there, they'll be expensive and not worth getting over a similarly-priced swiss.

ive posted pics of my other watches and they are simply too inappropriate/gaudy to wear at work.
12-13-2011 , 11:08 PM
But that watch is still Swiss. I meant by my original statement that it is either Swiss-made or if it isn't Swiss-made, it's time-keeping components are.
