I'm not advocating paying a fortune, but I know I can find better quality than H&M for not much more money. All I hear is about H&M is their quality is pretty poor. I know exactly how cheap clothes work wearing them as a kid. They just don't last long, especially wrt their fit.
My bad, I worded it weird. I mean to say that compared to similarly priced garments those mentioned are subpar. And I've only seen/held/worn Bape hoodies and short sleeve button downs so perhaps their other pieces are a lot better.

H&M is really hit/miss on everything except polos and dress button downs. I've found them all to be durable but most suffer from inconsistent sizing and weird fits. For instance their t-shirts flare out at the outermost part of the sleeve and it looks goofy to me.

I'll bet a decent amount on this and give great odds. Paypal or cashiers check.

Really disagree with this. The slim-fit polos are much better quality than anything you'd find at Express and some of the other stores mentioned. They're a steal when on sale.

a) Those clothes aren't really expensive. Pretty standard prices for most clothes out there (it's not like $180 jeans will make people think "omgzzz wow").

b) Price does not have anything to do with quality. So even though you think you may have paid a lot for something, it does not mean automatically mean you got a good quality piece of clothing.

Go with a polo that is within your budget and that looks good on you. Who cares about the price as long as it will last for a reasonable amount of time.

Higher-end pieces like Polo custom shop, BoO Not a Polo, etc. keep their shape, fit well and are comfortable but at the end of the day they are just polo shirts. ho-hum. I think you can put your money to better use elsewhere. I also believe that college-aged dudes are both busto and hard on shirts they wear frequently, so it makes sense to spend less on basics.

If you're paying $100+ for the demin I listed (excluding Dior and Roy) you're doing it wrong.

Platitudes like "you get what you pay for" are meaningless when it comes to clothing. I can go to any number of retailers and buy garments that cost over $100 per piece but are garbage as far as fit and/or quality goes. Price does not equate to quality. See Ed Hardy, Bathing Ape, True Religion, etc. for proof.
What type of shirts instead of the typical polos? Any retailers/websites you could recommend?

Where do you buy your denim?

Depends on the season and the look you're after. If I wanted to dress stylish in the summer I'd probably wear a mix of basic tees, short sleeve button downs and linen/madras long sleex button downs. My favorite button downs come from Wolf Vs. Goat

I generally buy off SuperFuture or StyleForum. I look for people selling new or near new jeans for 30%-50% off the price at retailers. Also if you watch the sale threads on either site they will link you to the best deals.

Am I the only one that hates short sleve button downs? Get a ****ing polo.

I remember one night at trivia at the bar me and this other guy were arguing over which look less worse, a long sleeve polo or short sleeve button down, so we asked the 3 girls on the table next to us, and they said rugby shirts(long sleeve polo) were better on the right guys.

Short sleeve button down shirts are reserved for McDonalds employees and the like.

Never wear a short sleeve button down shirt ever!

WTF? Some of those shirts are awful. Pretty much any shirt past the first page with all solid color shirts I wouldn't ever consider buying, especially at those ridiculous prices for some nerdy looking shirts. Really doesn't help that they use the nerdiest looking models to model nerdy shirts to begin with. Haters definitely gonna hate in this instance. But maybe you should explain why I should see them differently.

Simply incorrect. They look awful, roll up the sleeves on a regular one, but never buy a short sleeved one.
