Yep it's that easy for both guys and girls.

1) Talk about something interesting
2) They express interest
3) Get a number to organize that interesting thing.
4) Call them and go together.

Doesn't always have to be something mindblowingly fun. For example since you like tennis:

1) Work into a conversation that you "like tennis even though I am **** at it'
2) "Oh I used to play too" or "haha, me too", whatever
3) You say "really? Let's play some time, how about next wednesday?"
4) "Great" or "Next Wednesday doesn't work, two weeks?"
5) You ask to exchange numbers and now you are on your way to a new friend.

forgot the manage a hedge fund step in the middle

For Halloween I'm going dressed very grubby as a landscaper complete with hedge trimmers and telling any girl I meet that I work for a hedge fund.

What were these martilo pictures? In solving the mysteries of women's attraction to him, have we now ascertained that in addition to playing guitar and dropping albums on the reg he is also ripped? This isn't panning out to be much of a mystery anymore.

yes

btw, Mittens is the antithesis embodied of Henry's lol point that doing nerdy things (like posting up awesome storms of Modern Warfare 2 strat in an online poker forum) makes you unable to attract women or whatever.

before Henry responds to this with three paragraphs: I'm not going to read that post, so don't bother

We've slept together the past 2 nights but no poundtown. She has some older-guy trust issues, so I'm trying not to push too quickly. She sleeps topless thouguh, so I've been blueballed like a mother****er.

The "too early to cook for her" thing was mostly in jest. She hadn't had a guy take her OUT and actually show her a good time in forever. Plus, we've been hanging out at my house a lotttttt lately, so a change of scenery would be good imo. I just assumed most people would say "steak + nonfancy = you should cook for her!"

do you guys do everything up to sex... or just nothing at all past making out?

Thanks Goofy. I don't think my viedogame obsessions have ever helped my chances with women, in fact they probably have held me back a lot as far as school, and maybe girls and work too. That said, I completely agree that life doesn't have to be a 24-hour cycle of doing awesome things and then telling 8s, 9s, & 10s about said awesome things in awesome settings. While it doesn't manifest itself anywhere on the scoreboard, vegging out and wrecking people in 6v6 dom games for 5 hours straight makes me happy, so I do it.

I long ago came to terms with the fact that I'm a massive geek, but as you pointed out, that can have as much or as little to do with my sex life as I choose.

Mittens has in the past expressed a fear that if people found out he participated in online forums it would be viewed negatively so he is hardly the poster boy for embracing being a nerd.

If I'm not mistaken I was pretty hard on him for crashing a bottle service outing and being too cheap to pay his share. Can't be certain that was him but pretty confident. Combine that with me view on online dating and my views on nerdy behaviour and really why would he like me?

I don't dislike him at all. I dislike that he pushes his agenda on how people should lead their lives wrt anything money-related in every thread he posts in. It ruins them.

Actually because this topic hits very close to home I'm going to go on. It is actually kind of tough, because I do have to segregate my life a little bit. Playing, thinking, and posting about videogames (or poker, or women for that matter) are things I spend a lot of time on, but really can never mention to anyone but my closest friends. I always emphasize my cooler interests in casual conversation (I travel a lot for work, play squash multiple times a week, ski regularly etc), as I assume everyone does, but it is a bit annoying that I have to choose between having an active and diverse sex life and being completely open about how I spend my time.

That said, it's not a huge deal and I'd rather be like this than some girl-chasing bot who just does things that are attractive, or some antisocial guy who is so intent on his videogaming or internet hobbies that he can't seperate that from real-world interactions.

I've only ever had a few chicks shut down on me when I reveal my poker playing. Many seem pretty enthused by it. Maybe I'm misreading, but I'm fairly certain it's increased attraction in a few women. I think it's all about a) reading the appropriate chick, b) framing it in the correct fashion and c) making sure the context is appropriate to share it (don't look like a douche).

I wouldn't ever share video gaming habits with rare exceptions, such as what happened 2 weeks go. It still wasn't a +EV move, but I wanted to say I did it, haha.
10-28-2010 , 07:01 PM
I never realized women care that much about how much video game guys play. I don't play much but my roommate does and is always thinks girls will think he's a "nerd" when they come over. I never thought of it as a big deal.

Is it just get number/facebook, talk about doing something -> get reaction and then actually call them up or text them to see if they're up for it? Sports related, I like tennis even though I am **** at it and snow sports, would love to play football (soccer), but everyone is like 1000x better than me here so it would be embarassing. Will try to get bartending job as i crossposted this in edf forum and people seem to agree it could be good. and i possibly will be without braces after 2 months, so it's finishing anyways, but i always though getting braces being 18 was a bit cruel.
You know you can buy alcohol when you are 18 in the UK.

I know some people ITT don't like sports clubs as a good way of meeting new people but its already worked out really well for me this year. Its probably at the very end of the time that most people join clubs this year if you're at university though so be quick.
I've avoided the major sports like football and rugby as most people are at a much higher level and much more competitive than I am at those sports. There's nothing wrong with trying a slightly more 'alternative' sport as long as all the people who do it aren't really weird.

Totally agree with being a geek is ok, but it's how you act when not being a geek that makes the difference.

I hardly drops albums "on the reg." FWIW this will be my first one.

Poker can. It really depends on how you present it and the rest of the details. Even though poker has really gone in a bad direction it is still considered cool.
10-28-2010 , 07:27 PM
If you frame it like most guys, "durr I play some online poker sometimes!" it comes across as dumb because a) no one believes you and b) it's boring.

If I talk about living in Vegas for a month, playing WSOP events, playing big tourneys/ring games live and online... it makes me seem more spontaneous, high-risk (in a good way) and risque, which I think are all positive traits... esp since the women I pursue are generally being pursued by more or less boring, very safe guys otherwise.

And yes I realize none of the above is really the reality of poker, but perception is what counts?

ahaha I just used my mod powerz to see karak's memegenerator of the pic ILM posted, that was awesome
