"Ask Out A Girl" Thread: 2014 Year of the Petite Brunette and Pissing On Dudes "Ask Out A Girl" Thread: 2014 Year of the Petite Brunette and Pissing On Dudes

Girl I have been "hooking up" with and going out on dates for about 2 months. Showed me a text from a friend of hers.

The text said "Skelaton4 would be a great boyfriend, we love him" blah blah

The reason she showed me this is obviously she wants me to ask her out.. Correct?

You seem to think typing and English abilites are closely related, and for that i feel bad for you, like i said before i dont really focus on typing i just type and hope it comes out legible

somewhere in an alternate message board universe a group of girls are over analyzing your reaction to Her statement and telling her she's cooked and it's time to move on

Lolol this post after I reply to a series of debates quoting dictionary definitions and syntax issues. wow. Well at least you tacitly concede defeat with this post

The one who is sitting closest to me I've met before so we chat it up for a while. Eventually all of her friends get up and leave. My roomate who isn't TBE a few minutes later says "hey, all your friends left you should probably go find them." She responds with "yeah I should, I'll see you later" and gets up.

After I WTF'D after she left he said he didn't think she'd actually go find them and was trying to transition into her coming back with us since we were leaving but lolfail.

lol damn. maybe he couldn't hear the commentary?

You do recognize a difference between something that is legible and nonsense (your writing) and something unable to be read because it is illegible (a smudged note)?

Less this, more TRs.

custer are you still in school? you may want to consider a grammar/writing class if you think that dictionary definition of legible backs up your point. wow.

if we can get some sort of authority to rule on this, im willing to prop you on the usage of both those words being incorrect. i prob have no idea what im talking about though since im in law school where writing is super important and one of my college degrees is in english.

one very important point of english writing is that just because something by the technical, nitty rule may be correct does not make it a correct usage. stylistic choices are just as important as following technical diction rules.

but yeah let's all just drop this topic now (that's not a mod edict, at least not yet, just a poster request)

are you saying legible only applies to handwriting?

If so source?

edit: seriously guys? http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/legible

another definition of legible: clear enough to read
10-18-2010 , 08:23 PM
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/legible

It's completely stylistically incorrect to use this as applied to an internet forum. Intelligible is a much better and correct word choice. Note that every dictionary definition stresses handwriting. Type define: legible into google if you don't believe me.

But seriously drop it. Because you're wrong. Just because you can make your awful diction choices seem correct by the technical rule of English does not make them correct.

But again I have no credibility here, so maybe someone has a PhD in English and can chime in.

And to be clear the only reason anyone gives a **** is because you made such a huge deal out of it. Normally I could care less if someone fails at diction, because I don't really try that hard to type well on the internet myself and my syntax/diction is generally awful in my forum posts.

ESPECIALLY when I'm raging.

IM glad your going to be a lawyer cause we all know Wikipedia is an accredited source for arguments...wp

damn might of misused accredited

also the second definition of eligible has an example: "an anxious mood that was clearly legible upon her face"

in after handwriting

lol at saying that although in technically correct im wrong....

New thread title should be called "F*** girls lets discuss proper grammar"

geez

Custer, you're wrong. Everyone else agrees you are wrong. I've done my piece here. I didn't want to get involved, because I knew this would happen. I'm finished with this unbelievably stupid argument.

Moving on,

I'm probably going to go back to where that girl is in a couple weeks, so I'll text her a couple times to see what happens. I'm not expecting anything, though.
