There is a huge difference between being able to understand whether something looks good or not, and how to make it look good or not.

Also, lol @ asking women anything.

I definitely agree.

A recent example of overdressing for me was on Canada Day. Being Canada Day it is a drunk-fest so people dress super casual. I was going to go to see a DJ but the event was partly outdoors and then would switch to indoors at around midnight. We also had bottle service for the outdoors part of the event. This is a difficult event to dress for. I ended up dressing the same as if this was an indoor event and that put me clearly in the overdressed camp. GF left me alone for 45 minutes and I had one girl come talk to me and another girl aggressively try to pick me up. I'm a pretty average looking guy I attribute the attention to the way I was dressed.

4. if a guy was very well-dressed but wasn't wearing a belt, that would never be an issue

maybe it's a case of magnifying everything you see in the mirror and other people just don't notice/care
They're not going to want you because of your belt, the same way they're not going to want you because you're wearing a nice watch...these things will add to your look, even if the targets don't realize why you look better than you would without them.

What's the big deal, if you show up at a house party with a button down shirt, khaki pants and leather shoes? If no one dresses like this, you got it very easy to attract attention with your clothing!
because you look like a pompous dick, and the attention that you attract will be negative
08-28-2010 , 10:19 AM
essentially don't be this guy

girlfriend type thing got ****house wasted last night and passed out in my bed and subsequently took up the entire thing despite her being 5'1 and 100lbs soaking wet. she's never stayed at my house before, so i just left her this note on my computer and went and slept in the guest room.

lol

I forgot to add, that you should get self-esteem first.

You gotta explain me a few things:
Why do you look like a dick?
What is negative attention?
And who gives you negative attention?

From other guys. Not from girls. The only people that look at a guy and think he is a pompous dick is a guy who is pissed off because that guy is going to have an advantage and rather than compete most guys are lazy and wants to discourage guys from putting in effort.

Girls on the other hand are going to see dressing up as this guy offers me an opportunity for some fun. Hot girls want to have lives that resemble what they see celebrities doing or whatever the new Sex in the City is. A guy who dresses casually isn't going to get them there. A guy who is dressed up -- especially if he can afford designer clothing thanks to poker -- does. That is appealing. I could present a very long example of situations where girls behave completely differently based on how nicely you are dressed.

I can't even believe this is a debate. I've way to busy till late February / early March but there are at least four guys on here that are quasi-local to me. I'd be happy to do an experiment then and take them out dressed casually and then let me dress them and see the difference in the amount of attention they get.

GoodGame

No one is saying you should dress like that guy. There is a difference between dressing up and dressing like a douche.

Also is his head photoshoped? It looks way bigger than it should be.

Toronto is a very fun city. If there is a lot of people then that limits things but there is some venues that I think would convince you to move there,

The only people who would think you look like a pompous dick would be insecure men. Women actually appreciate it. The only time you would be "Trying too hard" is when you wear a tuxedo to a basketball game. Although if I saw a guy wearing a tuxedo at a basketball game, I would think it's pretty awesome....
