She feels like you'd rather play video games than have sex with her, so I definitely understand her position.

I don't really play video games but can't you pause them and finish later? Not that you should be dropping everything every time she wants you but video games are really trivial. At least have a better excuse next time.

I guess having a better excuse would be okay. But to me its more the principal of the thing. I'm busy and said I'll be over in an hour you can STFU and wait. Getting into the habit of dropping everything you do to cater to a girl is horrible IMO.

And lettuce be cereal they had make up sex in the end anyway so toph won.

lol girls

yeah i mean theyre having sex constantly anyway

its like when youre GF gets mad because you spent 4-8pm without her one night to play xbox when youve spent every second with her the last 2 weeks. dumb.

It doesn't matter what he's doing, he should be able to tell her he was watching paint dry and not have her get mad when he comes over at the time they agreed upon. Sets a bad precedent if she thinks she can demand his presence whenever she wants.

If it wasn't video games I would agree but with certain activities-- video games being one of them-- the argument doesn't work.

would you say the same thing if a guy got annoyed at a girl for taking some time for a gilmore girl's marathon?

Of course.

I dated a girl who had "shows" she had to watch. It was a very short relationship.

henry gonna henry

If you're not studying 16th century architect or the like you're not doing anything worthwhile.

Funkii,

Your argument is applicable 95% of the time. When my girlfriend is ready a half hour early and naked fingering herself and I'm not going over cause I'm playing FIFA with my roommate....there's a problem.

And I think there's absolutely a difference between something worthwhile or important and watching paint dry/video games (which I put on the same level)

Playing video games in person (like, not over the internet, though that is also quite fun) is probably the most fun two heterosexual men can have together
08-29-2011 , 05:59 PM
Everyone has their person preferences for entertainment but video games as a worthwhile activity is going to be difficult to sell to the vast majority. Putting your feelings about the activity aside you have to guide your actions based on how other people will judge them.

Goofy,

Pretty much any real sport is more fun. Most social activities are more fun.

I know fun is subjective but I'd definitely evaluate my life if the most fun I had was playing video games
08-29-2011 , 06:07 PM
its not like he was just wasting time by himself, playing fifa or a shooter with your friends is fun and you shouldnt just abandon your bro in the middle of a game for some bitch

video games aren't the most fun but it definitely makes for a good time, however,

Disagree. You have to guide at least some of your actions based on what you want. If what you want involves everyone agreeing with you, you're right. If it isn't, you do what you like and make up excuses when his situation occurs.

it's also a little bit easier to get 2-4 friends together to play video games than it is to play a real sport, especially at 2am

the situation isn't worth discussing besides the fact that she asked him what he was doing. She was in the wrong, he clearly told her he would be over in 30mins.

You can't make up excuses -- lying is never a good option. So the choice is between guiding you actions based on societal values or accepting the consequences of not doing so.

Video games are a waste of life. Picking video games over almost any activity is going to send a negative message.

Henry,

do you ever find it interesting that you think 99.99999% of people love wasting time via video games/television and that you (the 0.00000000000000000000000001%) are right about everything? Maybe you are the exception, rather than the rule.
08-29-2011 , 06:20 PM
I disagree again.

You don't say "oh, I never play video games" you say "I wasn't playing video games in that particular instance". If video games make you happier than the marginal (and I use the economic term) increase of acceptance you'd acquire by not playing them then so be it.

My aim in life isn't to maximise societal acceptance. It's to maximise the chances that I'm interested in what I'm doing at the time. That means not much time on TV or video games but it doesn't mean those things are to be avoided at all costs.
08-29-2011 , 06:25 PM
i just think while its hot for your GF to be begging your for your **** when you are hanging out with your guy friends you might not be the horniest dude ever and not in the mood to play along.

also the fact that shes not going anywhere, he can **** her that night, the next morning, the next afternoon, the next night, etc.

I don't know anyone who plays video games -- before you play the age card that includes all my 21-25 year old friends.

I don't see how that applies -- she ashed him what he was doing before coming over. He has to say video games or lie.
