ILM gets in a fight

Before you all get excited, it wasn't a fist fight. ILM wife and I have become quite serious at this point. Actually, serious to the point that I'd say there's a >50% chance I end up with her permanently. OTOH I'm not remotely freaked out by it because I am completely smitten with this girl. She's awesome.

So I might have been a huge ******* on Sat night. Actually I was. We were celebrating a significant event that wasn't an anniversary or anything at the place where we went on our first date. The night went wonderfully but we had to head back early-ish because I had a commitment early Sun morning. We stopped to visit her family for a little bit and before long she gets engaged helping her sister with Physics homework for 2 hours after we were supposed to head out. Ordinarily I wouldn't care because I love her family and have a lot of fun hanging out with them. But it's her little sister who adores her and I couldn't really be like, "HEY, we're leaving now." On sat I was a bit annoyed because I have 4 exams between today and tomorrow and REALLY needed to get a good day of studying in yesterday, dependent on me getting enough sleep.

So I sorta flipped on her on the drive back. I was justified in being annoyed, but the way I did it was really, really poor. She had had a bad night on Friday and I kind of received the brunt of it but she apologized right after and I forgave her. I guess there was some residual frustration for her actions on Friday + this kind of resulted in me saying some things I didn't mean. Even after she apologized for staying at the house too late I kept going, and she was obviously hurt by what I said.

A few minutes later we calmed down and I let her know I was sorry for how I handled it. Yesterday at breakfast (before I returned to where I go to school) and talking to her since everything seems back to normal, but I'm still worried about it. FWIW I have no prior experience with serious relationships and this was our first disagreement of any sort. It seems inevitable to me that these things just happen from time to time and it's part of life but I could tell what I said really hurt her and want to let her know I didn't mean it. Is this just how it goes and everything goes back to normal after a little while?

Completely standard. It would be unusual not to fight. I felt the same way after my first fight with my gf and nothing bad happened. It's good you apologized right after, it shows you genuinely felt bad and I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Anyway, I spoke to the guy (best friend) who nailed "my" girl and he told me they had done something a couple of weeks before. They slept in the same bed without really doing anything, so he was kind of there first. And honestly I don't think he would give such bad advice on purpose, I think he is almost as bad as me with women.
