I just watched the adjustment bureau the other day. Was dumb as ****, but I think I fell for Emily Blunt. Too scared to look up whether or not the accent is real, because it might ruin things between us if she's North American.

There are few sweeter sounds than the various murmurs of "wow..." around the table after you successfully make a big hero call on the river with very little for a big pot.

I prefer the various exclamations of 'ouch' when I suck out really hard on someone for a big pot
08-20-2011 , 12:50 PM
Sucking out isn't as fun to me because I feel that propriety dictates that I then be as quiet as possible until the general feeling of "ouch" subsides.

Do you gloat when you beat someone? Softly chuckle at the degenerate population?

Hell no. People who gloat after winning should be shot in the ****ing face. But I don't feel the need to go into shutdown silent mode after beating someone straight up like I do when I suck out.

i saw some article recently that like 15,000 casualdonks.jpeg linked on facebook "5 things you dont know about pro poker players"

i was like this will prob be awful, but it was decent until #1 which was that they feel guilty.

i can say with good confidence i have very rarely, if ever, felt guilty in playing poker and i dont know anyone who has. what a load of ****. i dont rub it in, but guilt? they knew what they were risking when they sat at the table.

the only times ive felt guilt is when friends (yeotajmu for ex.) want to play me heads up irl cause we're bored and then we start doing it for $$.

yup, felt the same way about it. does a stock trader or investment banker feel guilty? doubt it. why would i?

i only felt kind of guilty once when a homeless guy from the Strip was playing and my buddy who barely knows the rules stacked him for like ~300 and the homeless guy looked legit suicidal. oh well tho.

My funniest live hero call ever: I have AQ high and call his river bet

He grumbles and says "nice call" and flips over AK high

Also, I've felt slightly guilty at times playing live (never online). Once I was playing PLO in a bar in a small town in Oregon and some Asian dude came in who didn't know how to play PLO. We tried to explain it to him, but his English was pretty bad and he didn't seem to get it. He played anyway and I stacked him when he thought he had a sick hand because he was playing three of his hole cards.

Another time (same place in Oregon) I took someone's rent money.

Just because you have a thing for lawyers apparently doesn't mean the rest of us can't acknowledge Monaghan being superior.

goofy, how'd you know it was someone's rent money? i'm sure i've done the same and at times have suspected it, but have never asked/been told, lol.

on the other side of the coin: one of the most fun i've had was sitting next to some mid 40s guy who was on the phone yelling at this daughter and saying 'yeah, i can't go to your play tonight, daddy has plans' and stacking him.

one time near the bubble in a WSOP event the guy 1 to my right (who was pretty clearly a massive donk) announced that he really wanted to mincash because it would help him pay his rent next month. he had the sort of stack that you could reasonably fold into the money from this point, but the money wasn't exactly imminent, just remotely close.

he lost over 1/2 his stack to me in 2 orbits without ever seeing a showdown.

and i was card dead.

theres going to be a bachelorette party in the apartment across from mine tonight. im hoping a hot girl gets drunk and feels insecure about her friend getting married while she has no one and then stumbles into my room.

Do you know the girl who lives the hall? Is she hot or often have hot friends around?

----------

I have lived in a casino and some of the degeneracy you see is just disgusting. I would never feel guilty or sorry for people who choose to make bad decisions and so get themselves into problems. If they lack the willpower they get exactly what they deserve.

no, I moved into this place about two weeks ago and get back late most days so don't know anyone or often cross paths with people. I think two girls live in the unit, have seen one hot girl go in there once and another a separate time who was alright but not someone Id be interested in. I saw the non-hot girl today with two 5-6ish friends carrying bags of stuff down the hall and now theres a sign on the door for the party.

1/2 live, 7 handed. UTG opens for 5 dark, 1 fold, LAGgy guy flats, 2 folds, I 3b to 35 with KQhh, folds around to limpy lag who flats.

Flop AJ5r. Ch/Ch.
Turn J, puts two diamonds up. He bets 30, I call.
River offsuit 2. He bets 80 with ~110 behind, I call after 2 minutes. He says good call and rolls over 53o.
