The Red Sox and Pats are definitely the scum of the sports earth, and I'm kinda indifferent on the Celtics, but I don't think you should judge the Bruins solely on the other crimes of their home city.

they're the exact same fans

Yes, they are the exact same fans. Boston isn't Detroit or Toronto, where there are undoubtedly hockey-only fans in spite of being home to other pro teams. Boston is a historic hockey city, but it's crazy to think that at least 90% of the Bruin fanbase isn't the same people rooting for the Red Sox.

Hockey fans are better people than other sports fans. I imagine people that are Bruins fans first and foremost are not the annoying Red Sox/Pats fans we all despise.

I'll admit, I'm not happy about rooting for the Bruins, but it's clearly the lesser of two evils.

No, it isn't the clear lesser of two evils. You're doing MBP-esque mental gymnastics to justify a very bad thing.
05-31-2011 , 09:47 PM
It is the lesser of two evils because rooting for the Canucks is the ultimate evil. No gymnastics required; it's fact!

nah, they're really the exact same fans. I live here. I would argue that if anything they're louder, more dedicated, and poorer than fans of the other big sports.

His "hockey fans are better people than other sports fans" might ring true in a state full of flakes like California where it takes a truly dedicated person to care about a sport that isn't that fashionable, but in Boston it's been part of the culture for any of those fans' entire lives. It's silly to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway, goofy knows that he's stretching the bounds of reason. He also knows that there's a better than 50% chance that he's going to agonize while watching the good guys raise the cup sometime during the next couple of weeks.

i'm gonna go all LKJ and not be a bigamist with my fandom, but it is for sale.

I don't know much about current teams, players, who's hot/who's not, but I have a good general sense for what teams are where and the rules and all that ****.

My allegiance is up for sale =)
Become a Predators fan and go to a playoff game. I hear it has a great atmosphere, but I've never been, so I can only go off of what other fans think and general observations on TV.

Ehh, not quite. See, if you've never lived in NE or the surrounding area then you don't understand how areas outside of these cities are split between all the different teams in the area. I know someone who is a Yankees fan, but also a Pats and Bruins fan. I used to live in Hartford, which is halfway between NYC and Boston, so you have a mix of fans for all the teams in the area.

I have great love for Nashville and its people, but as a rookie to going to hockey games...I have to think that hockey atmosphere gets a lot better than what I witnessed in Nashville. They're not a hockey city. Not yet at least. I'm sure the Tennessee Titans experience would be better.

Also, Mittens has indeed lived in NE.

I live literally in the center of Boston.

To clarify:

Hartford is the traditional fault line for NY/BOS fandom, but because that is the case does not mean that it is at all important to the discussion at hand. The character of BOS fans is predominantly based on people who live in and around Boston. That you know a dude from Hartford who likes the Bruins and Pats but also likes a team that doesn't suck is pretty much the definition of a cool story, bro.

Digest this, goofy. Digest all of it. Those parts of your brain that are able to do gymnastics? Tie up their arms and legs so that they're trapped in one place and you have to face the truth: that you're joining forces with Red Sox fans, some of the worst scum in American sports fandom.

You're clinging to a "clear lesser of two evils" out of pride at this point. You know this. I know this. Mitt Romney knows this.

Keira's back! And she wants the Canucks to lose.

Enjoy your next 5 minutes, everyone!

I usually dig British chicks, but I can make an exception for this Canadian.

LKJ I wish we could just filter out all your posts about sports. I find your views on sports teams and fans to be the most tilting **** ever. Obviously because you hate the fans of most of my favorite teams, but also your extreme arrogance and overconfidence. It's like there is this person that relies on facts, facts, facts and evidence and doesn't get out of line. And that's LKJ. He is modest and generally knows his ****. And then there's the sports fan and I just wanna ****ing rage when you post the ******ed **** you post about. And it's compounded by the fact that you support Seattle teams. Talk about a city with bad fans. You ****ing goddamn hippie ****s that don't even know how many balls there are in a walk and couldn't support a basketball team. ****.

The worst part is you'll never stop. Just keep spouting your bull**** sports views like a ****ing arrogant ass. But I can't ignore you cause it's only like 5-10% of your posts that tilt me so.

Goofy, that chick is fine but to me, she's not perfect.
06-01-2011 , 12:21 PM
you seem mad
06-01-2011 , 12:22 PM
lol you might say. lkj's sports posts are the most tilting thing ever.

lkj, don't even reply it'll just tilt me more. just know that however good of a person you might be in everyday waking life, you're a complete ****bag of a sports fan.
