Vintage I'm confused. So you're like a session player?

Also, I could play on a religious channel, I suppose, but wouldn't be able to be in a band that was religious.

Vintage is a yeota gimmick.

So my friend told me a story today. That there was this 79 year old man in his spanish class. And that he died the other day. The Professor just kind of broke the news to the class the day after it happened. But the amazing part of the whole story is that his wife died about 3 years earlier. And she always wanted him to go to college, so after she died he enrolled in classes trying to get his college degree. Really a sad story.

Landed a good summer gig with the state attorney general's office. Out the door to celebrate.

Agreed sad story but very cool that he did go back to college

Congrats LKJ! Plz be posting in the drunk thread later

Remarkably un-drunk night really. Just one of those nights that I couldn't keep a buzz going for any length of time and wasn't willing to put in the effort (and money) to keep it going. Not that I didn't have fun, but just not one of my drunker nights...not even my drunkest night of the week.

Thanks for the congrats though; to have landed employment through on-campus interviewing, in this economy, at a non-T14 school, with middle-of-the-class grades? That's nothing I could have reasonably expected. Thankfully I think that this is my school choice coming through; beyond this being a good school, part of the reason I picked it is that it's not in an area flooded with schools, and yet there's still a decent legal market.

I negotiated it with them so that I could keep the option open to split my summer too, if something else comes up. But if I don't, I can just work for them all summer, and it sounds like chances of getting offered back for a post-grad job are decent, so at this point it feels like I'm freerolling as I look toward some other cities to see if anyone else is interested in me.

so some kid who is much farther along in my accounting program and is one of the top students mentioned something about his "church". another who looks to be getting a job with a big firm hosts weekly "prayer groups".

does anyone else get pissed off that people can be so dumb and credulous to believe in nonsense yet still be some of the best students? i guess (in accounting at least) its all about hard work; no critical thinking ability necessary, or at least not any proper ability
11-14-2010 , 12:47 AM
I don't for the life of me understand getting pissed off at people who choose to be religious and aren't going around proselytizing or anything of that sort.

Like...I understand disagreement, or even rolling of the eyes, but anger? I don't get that.

I'm top of my class in law school. I attend a Bible study weekly as well as church weekly. I also believe very strong in God and Jesus and organize and attend prayer groups on a regular basis

law is very much about critical thinking and intellectual ability

carry on now

lol while there is a nice little correlation btwn IQ and how seriously someone is religious, someone being religious does not automatically take them out of the running for being way smarter than you. and while im a very steadfast atheist, calling them "so dumb and credulous to believe in nonsense" says a lot more about your critical thinking ability/lack of perspective than it does about theirs.

Doubt I could be more annoyed with my roommate right now...

It's his birthday today, so yeah, I'll spot him 5 shots out of my expensive bottle of rum. I come back to my building to see him outside drinking out of waterbottles with his friend and I walk inside. In my room, I find my bottle completelyyyyyyy empty and he swears he only took 1 water bottle. Lol yea sure, it was obv 75% full.

He was dumb enough to leave his 24 pack of beer here though. I'm here with some friends finishing them up. Seems fair to me.

Sapporo,
Look what you did. You basically invited Karak to masturbate publicly.

When that happens, nobody is happy.
