I'm pretty confident I couldn't get into any Canadian schools unless there was some serious mature student policy. I'm 28 in a week. I don't even have much work experience other than playing poker aside from being in the army for 7 years, and going to Afghanistan for 6 months.

Basically I've been thinking about going to law school in either England or Australia. Any foreigners, or even locals, have experience at any of these schools?
In Australia I'm thinking Melbourne, Monash, or Bond. I'd love to go to Melbourne but I'm not so sure if I'd get in. Bond sounds pretty cool too and they even have one Canadian law elective.
In England I'm thinking Birmingham, Kent, or Leicester. A school in London itself would be nice but doubtful I'd get in.

Just looking for any info on these schools, and also the thought in general of taking a law degree internationally. I would probably intend on coming back to Canada to practice, but wouldn't be too perturbed if I had to do a couple years elsewhere first. The other nice thing about these schools is the program is 2 years if you already have a bachelor's degree as opposed to 3 years in Canada.

Thanks
AFAIK in England and Australia law is an undergraduate degree and then you need a graduate degree to do certain kinds of law. The US and Canada are the only countries that I'm aware of that have "law school" the way you mean.

The only reason I asked is of mere curiousity. I'm not taking a poll and offering the average. I'm just wondering what you guys would ask for or expect for losing half a thumb.

I've asked plenty of qualified people and had already decided on a number well before asking here. And anyway, I could ask anywhere between $2kand $200k and be justified based on various different circumstances. It isn't like there is some magic thumb value that all good lawyers demand.

He was obv throwing it out there, at least in part, for comedic value. however, even if he was doing research, isn't throwing the question out to the public a decent indicator of what a lay jury would think?

Bottom line, stop being a dweeb.

they are undergraduate degrees everywhere. the thing is to get in in canada and us you need at least 3 years of post-secondary and most places require degrees.
canadians are still able to take a law degree in uk or australia, or elsewhere. new zealand could be alright too. the thing is to practice in canada there are some hoops you have to jump through. you gotta write a bunch of NCA (i think it's called, don't know what it stands for) exams. but it is possible. the main factor is it isn't as hard to get in to foreign schools.

Yea, I figured out how to use the one on Westlaw this week. Thanks for not convincing me to buy a $100 book guys.

All pretty much BS. For the one for LSU I had to add in some stuff about the state, so I wanted to be a labor lawyer in Louisiana.

2.TXJUR LIMITATION § 69
I typed in "alienation of affection" in the texas-cases database.

How the **** did you get all the way to law school without "knowing how" to outline?

Take your notes. Read them. Decide what's important and what's not. Remove what's not. Repeat as necessary. Wa-la!

I picked a seat next to one of the good looking gals on the 2st day but she will not say a word to me. She does play with her shoulder length hair ALL class long, it's like a tease, hair-playing should be admissable.

So, you've tried talking to her and she just ignores you? Or you sit there like a weirdo and wonder why she never says anything to you?

Two questions:

1. 2.5 weeks in and I'm just starting heavy with the supps now. Am I ****ed? (this question is a joke btw but some people on TLS would say im ****ed)

2. Serious question. As I read supplements, should I be "outlining" (as in beginning to make my final outline for the course) or simply "note taking?" Is it going to benefit me to go back in a month and start processing the notes into an outline (ie refreshing the material) enough to avoid doing it now?
