Headed up this Saturday for the main. Sounds like turnout is a little weak so expecting around 800...?...

This is very untrue. The wsopc never allowed re-entry of any kind up until 4 seasons ago. The only exceptions prior to that were the opening weekend multi-flight and the main events, both of which had limited re-entry. In the 2014-2015 season the wsopc began allowing venues to choose if they wanted to have more re-entry events. The first year only some of the venues did on a few of their tournaments, but by 2015-2016 many of the venues were going to mostly re-entry events. In that season Jan 2016 Choctaw had re-entry allowed on all but I believe 2 events - they were definitely the first and fastest to go all-in on re-entry as for as the wsopc goes. By 2016-17 it was the standard - yet most venues still had at least 1 or 2 freezeouts.

I'm not making a huge deal out of it like anti-BBA people do, but TDs should continue to throw us a bone with 1 or 2 freezeouts when they have a 13 ring series, plus dozens of side events.

I skipped this year, but good luck to everyone down there.

Being a broke old man I can afford only one main event flight so I need some thoughts on which main event flight to play Friday or Saturday.

Saturday for sure. Field will be softer and bigger. I hope the main gets over a 1000 players with the lagging numbers this year. The WSOP brand has been diluted at Choctaw by adding all these series. See below for gradual dropoff in the January main since adding the second WSOP series and 2 WPT series. Adding a third WSOP series is only going to make it worse. The January WSOP main has always been a DFW "Major" and Choctaw, PE and WSOP need to do whatever it takes to keep it that way with all the money being made off this market.

2016-1565 players and $393,000 to first
2017-1451 players and $375,000 to first
2018-1249 players and $332,000 to first
2019-1000 players and $270,000 to first??????

The whole thing is just not as appealing.
How is there an increase in rake? The majority of tourneys last year were 365s with 300 to pool and 65 to rake. This year are 400s with 330 to pool and 70 to rake. I mean, more actual dollars raked, yes, but bigger percentage to the prize pool, which is more important.

Main event went from a 1500+175 to a 1515+185, which is indeed a tiny increase in percentage raked.

You didn’t take into the account that 2016-17 had 4 flights vs the 2 flights 2018+ years

Also the structure made it tougher to bust earlier, which decreases re-entries.

I don't care how it is setup with flights, etc.. just make sure the January main pays over $300K to first.

I believe last year (2018) the schedule for the January WSOPC at Choctaw changed. The non-WSOPC ring events used to precede the ring events. Now they follow. I think having those events first helps build larger turnout later. Or perhaps it’s just that people (like me) have trouble getting away in the very early days of January. I know it hurt the non-ring schedule last year.

Curious how many the postliminary events will bring. Obv expecting 500 min for the 50k guarantee, wonder if will be more but more specifically if wed.`s BB ante will draw a decent field. i like they are keeping the same wsop structure for those events but smaller buy in.

I'm looking for information about the Tournament of Champions Freeroll on Jan 20th. I read the info sheet and structure sheet on Poker Executives, where it states that I should sign up early as space is limited.

If I make it, I won't be able to arrive there before Sat 1/19 late afternoon. Would like to know if that's too late to sign up. Anyone have info on total amount of seats available, how quickly it's filling up, etc?

I don't have the numbers but the floors were saying isn't filling up like they thought so signing up Saturday should be ok.

Big Tex, what about signing up Sunday morning? I just found out last minute that I can make it but I don’t want to make the 3 hour drive if it’s gonna be as an alternate for hours. Am I correct that you can’t register over the phone?

Registration has to be in person today I was told there was around 350 signed up. It isn’t filling up like they thought so imo if you get here early Sunday you will get a spot. Registration opens Sunday at 8am.

The tournament sheet says registration through level 9, will they take a wait list. I am in the same boat, driving up Sunday morning for a few days.

They will have alternates if necessary

I have a suggestion.

Do away with the $100+30 and replace with $240. Keep the structure exactly the same and you will see entries and prize pools go way up.

Run good

I actually disagree, I think there are lots of people playing the $130 that wouldn't play "a turbo" for $240.

I agree 100% and we know the players in this area.

People consider 10k start stack with blinds starting at 25 50 and 30 minute levels a turbo?

I guess we can agree to disagree. I would much rather play 40 rake on 200 than 30 rake on 100.

I would too. But the HUGE majority of players playing a 7pm $100-250 tourney couldn’t tell you at all what the take is. They just know $240 costs more than $130. Also the tourney has 20 min levels and 5k start stacks, which is a LONG way from 10k and 30 min.

For example, lots of people will refuse to do a $100 last longer in $175 SNGs at the Rio. It changes the tourney from $160+15 to $260+15 but lots of people say nah because $275 >> $175.

They have decided to have a second flight rather than alternates. There are only 419 signed up now. There will be 76 tables for this event.

When would the 2nd flight be? Is this a two day event?
