WSOPc back in Nevada... during Thanksgiving?

The WSOPc is going to be at PH in November again this year, but during Thanksgiving, as opposed to the week before like years past. Am I the only one who thinks this means its going to be a dud?
If they follow the traditional WSOPc schedule and have the ME last, it will be on Thanksgiving weekend. I think they'll lose a third (or more) or their attendance over last year if that holds true.

I tend to agree and thought the same thing when I was looking over the schedule. However, I typically only play one or two $365 event so at the end of the day it won’t impact me too badly.
Booked flights already, arriving Wednesday the 14th before the series starts - and - was finding flights back home massively expensive so I’m flying back Thanksgiving Day. Which was (no surprise), considerably less expensive than any other day that week.

I guess we'll have to wait for the schedule to come out (knowing how timely it has been in years past at PH, I think we'll have to wait quite a while). However, If they keep things more or less as they have been in the past, I really think that Main Event will be a shadow of itself. It will likely be similar to the year they held it over Labor Day weekend, where they squeaked by an already diminished guarantee with just over 500 entries. And of course, that's nowhere near the 1200+ entries they've gotten in the past when apparently looking at a calendar was a pre-requisite to making a schedule.

I was excited to go, but then realized that Thanksgiving is right in the middle of the series. Problematic. I still decided to go for a chunk of it. I'll be there from 11/15-11/20. Got cheap flights and lodgings.
Strategically, it looks like they're covering almost the entire calendar year with WSOPC stuff, so inevitably some venue had to be the "fall guy" and get saddled with the bad dates. Maybe they figured a Vegas venue was the best choice to absorb that since the city has the highest native population of players.

Vegas in general is still pretty busy on T-day.

For me the issue isn’t so much that the series is near Thanksgiving. It’s alwats ended two days before Thanksgiving in years past. It’s the fact that the ME, if typical scheduling comes to pass, will be on Thanksgiving weekend. That basically means no WSOPc ME for me, and I’m guessing a lot of players who would otherwise travel to the event.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the fault of the WSOP. The venue may have had a scheduling conflict with the usual dates. But if this was just, hey let’s hold the even over thanksgiving this year, then I think, in typical fashion, the WSOP and PH are leaving a lot of money on the table. We’ll see what they think of their chances at success when they post the guarantee on the ME. I’d be pretty surprised at this point if it’s more than 750k, and that will drive turnout down too. Such a shame for an event that ought to be well north of a 1.5MM prizepool if scheduled properly.
