"... gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the new invitation-only “Tournament of Champions”. The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2022 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas."

Also, bracelet winners from WSOP22 live and online events are invited to the ToC.

As someone who doesnt intend to travel the circuit circuit, this is tantalizing. Am eager to see more details.

Its not really anything new. They have had the Global Poker Championship for like the past decade. In the past, they gave seats to the Main Event winner and Leaderboard winner at each stop + top50 on the overall circuit points leaderboard. This year they are doing away with leaderboards entirely and giving a seat to each ring winner.

Giving a seat to every ring winner, not just each Main Event, is significant IMO.

It will still be roughly the same # of players overall. Probably softer than most years. Recs win $400 events all the time but leaderboard qualifiers are almost always regs/circuit grinders, since it takes consistent success over the year to get there.

I imagine this will be significantly more players overall making it significantly lower value for everyone but idk.
