I haven't heard anything at all about the WSOP this fall/winter since the online garbage started. Is there any word on whether or not that will happen? Venetian is running stuff next month, so I'm optimistic it could. Also, Trump will probably cure COVID by then cuz he knows so much about medicine and what not.
What about other major tours like WPT and mid states, heartland, etc. I have money burning a hole in my pocket to contribute to a prize pool for someone else to win.
Thanks in advance guys.

Doubt we'll see any announcements until October at the earliest. The difficulty with big live tournaments is they attract lots of travel, and that's the last thing you want to do during a pandemic. I'm guessing you'll see big tournament series' when you see music venues open up again. I'd say the earliest is summer of next year, but who knows. It's all speculative at this point.

+1, but it depends on what you consider big. I think the Venetian already has the next series lined up for October with some decent guaranties and I have heard rumors of a fairly typical DSE IV (with lower guaranties) in a few months.

I think more important is regional tournaments. You have to be comfortable to go to a casino tournament. If regional casino’s like Atlantic City , Foxwood, Florida and CA starts small series events and make you comfortable with tournament environment, then one can think of going Las Vegas and any WPT for big event.

It is September 18 today. Late this afternoon, Trump strongly suggested that anyone who wants to be vaccinated can be vaccinated by April 1, 2021. If this happens, I can see no reason not to have the next WSOP start in late May of 2021.

Only problem is how credible his words are.

But even if that’s true isn’t it to small window from April to June ?

Unless WSOP delayed by at least 2 months .

A two month delay makes sense. I think April, May, June, and July will be sufficient time for the pandemic to fizzle out out after a mass vaccination of the population. August can be full of events and then the Main Event occurs around the Labor Day holiday. It works for me just like the normal schedule has in the past. I hopes it works for the WSOP and the RIO and the strip casinos.

Very interesting! They were able to get up to 650-670 tournament participants in post COVID-19 era ( or I should say pre vaccine era )!

Well I will give salute to those brave poker souls 👍

Not for me. But I would like to know more .

If anyone who played those tournaments ( Event 3 and Event 8 of deepstack) please tell us how safe you felt ?How was social distancing? Were they checking body temperature when you enter the tournament room ? More details might ease anxiety of people like me.

Thx

A mass vaccination of the population will begin about nine months from now.

Played Event #8 ...got there late, so I was an alternate and had to wait over 2 hours to get in, not as bad as some of the later alternates who waited almost 4 hours (due to tables being 8 handed and only around 24 tables in use for tourny). Social distancing at actual tables was fine: Plexiglas, masks, wipe down seat before a new player sat, plenty of hand sanitizer stations.

The issue was with those waiting around to get seated..started to get crowded, floormen had to constantly warn about keeping distances.

Event #27 starts today ($400 entry, $100K guaranty, with 4 starting flights), I think the over/under on entries will be around 1,150. There's just such a pent up demand for players wanting to play tournaments...
