This is just my wishful thinking.
I think WSOP will have some kind of 2021 live events sometime in summer ( June to September).
It will be great experience if it’s organized at new conventions center or multiple venues on Las Vegas strip .
It might be little more expensive as they have to recoup the extra expenses related to pandemic. And I understand logic behind it .
I agree they may hold a live event, but I doubt very much it will be what we've become accustomed to the last 15 years. Perhaps a number of 10K+ events. Stuff that will draw numbers in the 100's at most, not the 1000's+, and could be held in one of a number of Caesars properties, including the RIO.
COVID is an ever-evolving and surprising situation, so who knows? To my knowledge, we haven't seen any hints come from the WSOP as to their plans.
But we do know for certain live poker is absolutely viable, even under the severe restrictions which are in place in NV today. One would hope the restrictions would be at least a little less strict by next summer, so I'm certain there will be a compelling tournaments series in LV in that timeframe, regardless of the WSOP.
BTW, everyone can feel however they like about the prospects of playing live poker at this time. I don't really care what other people do or don't do. That's none of my business. But I've attended two series in LV over the last few months which were extremely well run and successful. Considering the rather incongruous regulations in NV with respect smoking/vaping, I felt significantly more safe at the poker table than in any other area of the casino.
